About this listen

Hank and his trusty Corpsman, "Doc," thought they knew what to expect when they were deployed to Iraq, but after getting trapped in an ancient Babylonian temple, things got weird. Following months of combat in a war that wouldn't end, Hank returns to California to face a different type of immigrant—the kind that comes from space.

Follow Hank through this wildly imaginative science fiction romp as he tries to figure out what it means to be human, or if he even still is one.

I thought this was completely something Different and just happen to stumble upon it. And I'm very glad I did.

Unexpected surprise

This is spectacular example of what can be the next Sci-fi epic. Spectacular story telling, and having the author narrating adds a special touch.
A great story about love, loss, and camaraderie, with a generous helping of dick and fart jokes.

WOW!

This is awesome. I really enjoyed how the story was very relatable as a veteran, but also it spun a unique storyline with some sci-fi and hints of fantasy in there. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Fantastic book and storytelling.

Absolutely loved it, though obviously each character actor used a different recording device and it shows, glaringly...lol

Details that only a veteran would truly understand

This is a great beginning to a much larger story. some of the voice acting isn't the best but it's great none the less.

Was on a deployment with a marine who recommended this series to me. Me being a chairforce dude when he spoke about space marines and clapping alien cheeks I was a bit concerned for whatever halo star trek crossover fever dream I was about to get into given my pogish nature. But literally could not stop listening to this. It’s honestly one of the most just wild rides but somehow relatable things I’ve listened too. Like Generation Kill went bare back with Original series star trek with a sprinkle of ancient Sumerian thrown in there. 11/10 absolutely killer.

More addictive than cigarettes

Love the characters and the tale. Lots of blood, gore, sex, violence, as a backdrop to a truly wonderful love story. Honestly, it’s crazy and a great performance at all levels.

Absolutely one of the best military sci-fi stories

I remember having many conversations almost exactly like this. The names may be different, but the personalities are the same as the men I served with.
This feeling of familiarity made me connect with these characters.
