About this listen

"The policewoman got shot, and she's bleeding everywhere. Get someone here in one hour, or I'm going to put her out of her misery."

An ultimatum that forever changes the lives of police officer Sam Lucas and Dr. Kate Myles. When heavy snowfall isolates the small English village of Birchenlow, a violent robbery shatters the community. Taken as a hostage and stranded with the increasingly desperate criminals, Sam is seriously injured during an ill-fated escape attempt. Already struggling to save the lives of the villagers caught up in the raid, Kate volunteers to walk straight into the lion's den. Cut off from help, with only each other to rely on, Sam and Kate must find a way to fight the odds and stay alive. The growing attraction between them gives them an even more desperate will to survive.

Worth the read

A bit predictable but good action and worth the read. I would recommend this to someone who loves an action filled romance even if you know what will likely happen. :-)

Great story, awesome narrator

I'd read the book before and really enjoyed it, but this narrator makes it sing. I could listen to her accent all day and never tire of it.

Loved the Story and Reader!

The story was great! It played out like a movie in my mind and I felt that I could actually see the scenes and relationships between all the Characters unfold. You can feel the fear and frustrations through the Narrators caricatures. Would recommend, would read again

5 stars all around

I read ebook years ago & rated it 5 stars back then. Add 0.5 stars for the audio book's narration for a total of 5.5 stars total. I've re-read it before but decided to try the audio book this time around. I think I enjoyed it more with the excellent narration. Hearing it read with an English accent really adds to the book. I'm not knowledgable enough to know if it is accurate for the area.

caution

The reader is VERY slow throughout the book, even during action and emergency situations, she is painfully slow. It made it hard to fully enjoy the story. At times it was hard to tell the two main characters apart. This definately would have been a better experience with a different reader, but the story was good regardless.

Great story

Loved these characters. Extreme conditions throw these characters together, and as events unfold love grows. Read this book awhile ago. Remembered liking it, so got the audio version. Really enjoyed that the narrator was British and had all the pronunciations and inflections that as an American I just couldn't great my brain to do while reading.

Spellbound with Snowbound!

If you could sum up Snowbound in three words, what would they be?

Spellbinding, exciting, realistic

Who was your favorite character and why?

The number of characters in the book was somewhat limited due to the circumstances. I really enjoyed Sam, who was the main character.

Have you listened to any of Lesley Parkin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I have listened to several of Lesley's performances, and rate this right up there! She has a wonderful ability to perform many different accents and characters. I have traveled extensively in Britain, and believe that she did a really good job of nailing the local accents in the area where the book is set.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, I did have extreme reactions. A hostage situation would be so awful, and the author really conveyed the desperation associated with the circumstance.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoy both the tone and accents that Lesley Parkin is able to portray and actually seek out books that she has narrated. She rates up there with the more famous audio book narrators.
