About this listen
In a world of constant winter, only the citizens of the climate-controlled city of Snowglobe can escape the bitter cold—but this perfect society is hiding dark and dangerous secrets within its frozen heart. A groundbreaking Korean novel translated into English for the first time!
“The Hunger Games meets Squid Game in Soyoung Park's dystopian thriller Snowglobe”–Entertainment Weekly
Enclosed under a vast dome, Snowglobe is the last place on Earth that’s warm. Outside Snowglobe is a frozen wasteland, and every day, citizens face the icy world to get to their jobs at the power plant, where they produce the energy Snowglobe needs. Their only solace comes in the form of twenty-four-hour television programming streamed directly from the domed city.
The residents of Snowglobe have everything: fame, fortune, and above all, safety from the desolation outside their walls. In exchange, their lives are broadcast to the less fortunate outside, who watch eagerly, hoping for the chance to one day become actors themselves.
Chobahm lives for the time she spends watching the shows produced inside Snowglobe. Her favorite? Goh Around, starring Goh Haeri, Snowglobe’s biggest star—and, it turns out, the key to getting Chobahm her dream life.
Because Haeri is dead, and Chobahm has been chosen to take her place. Only, life inside Snowglobe is nothing like what you see on television. Reality is a lie, and truth seems to be forever out of reach.
Translated for the first time into English from the original Korean, Snowglobe is a groundbreaking exploration of personal identity, and the future of the world as we know it. It is the winner of the Changbi X Kakaopage Young Adult Novel Award.

A deadly and unprecedented virus is spreading. But those who survive it experience long-term effects no one has ever seen before: utter contentment. Soon after infection, people find the stress, depression, greed, and other negative feelings that used to weigh them down are gone. More and more people begin to revel in the mass unburdening. But not everyone. People in power—who depend on malcontents and prey on the insecure to sell their products, and convince others they need more, new, faster, better everything—know this new state of being is bad for business.

Tokyo resident Keiko Furukara has never fit in - neither in her family, nor in school - but when at the age of 18 she begins working at the Hiiromachi branch of national convenience store chain Smile Mart, she realizes instantly that she has found her purpose in life. Delighted to be able to exist in a place where the rules of social interaction are crystal clear (many are laid out line-by-line in the store's manual), Keiko does her best to copy the dress, mannerisms, and mode of speech of her colleagues, playing the part of a "normal" person excellently, more or less.

"You are to report to Station X at Bletchley Park, Buckinghamshire, in four days time....That is all you need to know." This was the terse telegram hundreds of young women throughout the British Isles received in the spring of 1941, as World War II raged. As they arrived at Station X, a sprawling mansion in a state of disrepair surrounded by Spartan-looking huts with little chimneys coughing out thick smoke—these young people had no idea what kind of work they were stepping into. Who had recommended them? Why had they been chosen? Most would never learn all the answers to these questions.

The Hunger Games Fix I have been needing for years!
I'm about three hours in and I'm completely hooked. This book is written in a great flow that never feels dry, overdone or incomplete. Hopefully, current authors take note of this young literary genius. I do not like spoilers in reviews, but just know the story is amazing and feels like im reading Hunger Games for the very first time!

LOVED SNOWGLOBE. CAN'T WAIT FOR BOOK 2!
I loved this book. Can a dystopian story be fun, sweet, thrilling, and scary all at once? Yes, it can, and Snowglobe did it!
I only have one complaint....the second I finished book 1, I instantly went to buy book 2, and it's not out yet...
If you loved Hunger Games, Divergent or anything like that you'll love Snowglobe.

Omg
Don’t read what the book is about. Your going to be confused at the beginning but it make the rest of the book so much better.

Nothing like it- Enjoy!
This book was a recommendation and I really enjoyed listening! Definitely a unique take on a post apocalyptic story. Sorta Hunger Games but not really…. Unexpected twist and turns. The story didn’t go where I expected it to but still held my interest. I struggled a little with the Korean names and characters, but heard it’s harder when trying to read them so that’s what is nice about the audiobook. I eagerly await the second book translation!
