About this listen

Meet the Days, Howards, Madisons, and Lees. Four wealthy couples obsessed with keeping up appearances. Pearson, Vonita, Nadalia, and Ryan want the world to believe that they live flawlessly prosperous lives, but behind the custom-made doors of their elaborate mansions lie salacious secrets that are becoming harder to hide.

Pearson may be forced to choose between her husband and vodka. Vonita could be at risk of losing her lavish, fairy-tale lifestyle but only finds out when it's too late to do anything about it. Nadalia's picture-perfect life seems to be slowly falling apart at the seams until an ugly truth finally shatters her world. And for Ryan, living under the thumb of an A-list husband isn't all that it is cracked up to be - especially since she doesn't seem to know where he is half the time.

Saving face may be a priority for these wives, but scandal, addiction, financial ruin, and infidelity threaten to reveal their truths to the world - and worst of all, each other.

Doesn't Read Like an African American Book

The story is excellent . the characters are well developed l. BUT there is nothing in the text that implies the characters are african american.

Good story line

The computerized narration yikes, it was terrible. Completely compromised the integrity of the story which was pretty good. I wanted to stop listening but I paid for the book so I endured the narrator.

Glad I stuck with the book, the author wrapped it up nicely, giving strength and warmth to all of the characters. I wish I'd purchased the book instead of wasting a credit on audible.

Keep writing sis!

Rich people and their problems...

This was a good story with an entertaining cast of characters. It read like a soap opera...rich people and their problems. I liked the narrator and felt like she did a great job of bringing the characters to life, especially one of the mothers, Frannie. I loved her accent! Even though I figured out one of the plot twists early on, it didn't take away from the storyline. I still wanted to know if I was correct about my assumptions. The only thing I kept wondering about and not that it's that important to me, but some of the characters' races were ambiguous and maybe the author meant for them to be. I think she mentioned Ryan and Nadalia's but the others, I had no idea but could only assume. For me, it makes the characters more relatable when I have a general idea what they look like. Overall, good story with a few plot twists. I'd love a sequel to see what these characters are doing now.

Just ok. Narrator was boring.

This story was ok. If the narrator was more entertaining it could have been better. It was hard not to fall asleep listening to her. The only character she nailed was franny.

Narrator ruined it

The storyline was decent but predictable. Too many moving parts with no real depth. The narrator had me repeatedly questioning whether I was listening to an African-American book.

Best Book I've Read In A While!

Best story I've read in a minute! it was realistic, flowed well and didn't wrap everything up in a pretty now at the end. kept me engaged the whole time.

The narration could've been better, and it was tolerable.

I'm disappointed the authors' other books are in Aubible.
