About this listen

The aftermath of near eradication at the hands of an alien race has left humanity blanketed in fear.

Fain Jegga has suffered a demotion of epic proportions. Now, instead of being captain of Sodenia, he is the captain of a small recovery boat. His efforts, and those of the flight crew that bravely flew the powerful alien ship to victory during the second Acram attack, are rapidly being forgotten by the public as those in power work to taint their names.

Only Kya and a few high-ranking ESAF officers are still fighting to have Fain and his flight crew reinstated to serve on board Sodenia. And now it is more important than ever, as a new alien ship carrying a grave message has appeared in Earth’s skies.

Good listen with great narration !!!

I downloaded this audiobook because I'm a huge science fiction fan and it looked interesting. It wasn't until after I downloaded, that I noticed it was the second book of the series. But, despite not knowing the backstory of the characters, I found the audio book compelling. This is a big rambling Space Opera, with the human crew of a giant, friendly alien space ship (Sodenia) battling against technologically and numerically superior alien forces of a different race in the depths of space AND against power hungry politicians back home on earth. I haven't listened to an audiobook with two narrators before. It was interesting, but I think I would have preferred hearing just one with this particular book. But again, this was the first book I've heard that was split between two different narrators. The male narrator, Sean Erik Hoffman, does an excellent job with all the different character voices, especially the alien ones. He was also able to pull off the female characters in a way that wasn't distracting from the story. As for the female narrator Isabelle Leon, her narration was pretty basic. More of a straight narration without much of an attempt to give different types of voices to any of the characters, but it was still well done. You can tell that they are both professional narrators. It seems like the idea was to have Hoffman read the chapters that were mainly from a male character's point of view and Leon the chapters that were from a female character's point of view. I think I would have preferred just hearing Hoffman read the book by himself as he does an excellent job with not just the character voices but also with conveying the emotions and excitement of the book's story. Of course that might just be a male bias on my part, this being a big space battle book and all. (LOL) I would be interested in listening to the first audiobook in this series, which has the same narrators and I see has some excellent reviews. I hope the third audiobook is in the works!
