Challenging and Practical

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to anyone who is wondering what spirituality is all about. Benner is clearly very knowledgeable about the subject and I was able to learn and be challenged by him.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Soulful Spirituality?

My favorite part about the book was that at the end of each chapter there are questions which allow you to digest the material and consider its impact for your life. It helps the listener to understand that spirituality is both personal and practical.

What about Chad Harrington’s performance did you like?

The narration of the book is excellent and read at a very good pace, especially for a book that requires self-examination and critical thinking while listening.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book will challenge your thoughts about spirituality and give you practical ways to engage in your own spirituality. I am grateful for all I learned from it and will remember this book for years to come.

Worthwhile Listen

I imagine this would be better to read than listen so as to have time to pause and consider. I’m glad I listened, but now I want to go back and highlight my paper copy.

Soulful Content and Voice

I first read David Benner's Soulful Spirituality two years ago and it changed my life. Never before had I been granted the freedom to explore Christianity as a journey of becoming more and more fully human. Benner's therapeutic experience combined with his own spiritual journey opened the doors to finding a new way to understand my spiritual self.

When I saw Soulful Spirituality had released as an audible E-Book, I immediately became excited to revisit the book that had changed my life. As an avid podcast listener, the audible version gave me the opportunity to listen to Benner's text during my usual podcast listening hours. Although Benner himself does not narrate, Chad Harrington's voice sounds as soulful as the content. You can tell that a lot of effort and focus was put in to capturing the essence of the original text.

The best part of this book is how it first establishes a spirituality of becoming fully human and then gives us concrete practices to develop that spirituality. It doesn't matter what religious background you come from or even if you have no religious background whatsoever. Soulful Spirituality offers 6 practices for all of us--Awareness, Wonder, Otherness, Presence, Reality, and Surrender. I wouldn't recommend listening to too much at one time, however, because it is so full of wisdom, you will want to ponder and consider each chapter.

Fortunately for me, I now have a version of the book that I can easily revisit year after year to refresh both my spirit and soul. I can't recommend this book enough.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher, or narrator.

Awful

This book reminds me of a sausage. The author has mixed together a potpourri of various religions, psychological "insights" and quotes from known saints and other spiritual people. But, it is a bad sausage. One has to strain out the gristle and bone chips to get anything out of the book. So not worth it. I did listen to the entire thing, painful as it was.

Disappointing

I’ve read Surrender to Love and The Gift of Being Yourself. Enjoyed both and found them helpful. But this book was very disappointing. Would not recommend.
