About this listen

The sole survivor of a brutal massacre, Dr. Bennett returned home broken and tormented by guilt and memories of an unforgivable crime allowed to go unpunished. Then the beautiful and mysterious United Nations crisis counselor Ayana Burundi walks into his office, offering the chance to see the man who took everything from him pay for his crimes.

It is supposed to be a professional relationship between two attractive and single people who only want to see justice finally have her day. What could possibly go wrong?

Three years ago, while volunteering in South Sudan, Chicago native Daniel Bennett came face to face with evil personified when African warlord Kronte and his men brutally murdered his daughter, Victoria. The sole survivor of a brutal massacre, Dr. Bennett returned home broken and tormented by guilt and memories of an unforgivable crime allowed to go unpunished.

As United Nations crisis counselor Ayana and Daniel prepare to build their case while also fighting to keep their dramatic romance alive, they discover that the captured warlord isn't the only one with an interest in preventing Kronte from ever going to trial.

Backed by the international crime syndicate known as "Father," Kronte has been their most profitable asset in Africa. Refusing to see their profits and power in the region weakened, the syndicate dispatches their most deadly liaison to use every option at his disposal to prevent the U.N.'s star witness from ever taking the stand.

Facing insurmountable odds and danger, Ayana and Daniel must stand together and fight to bring a monster to justice, no matter the cost.

Powerful Story…

This novel was powerfully written with a great plot that gave so many feelings and emotions throughout. I became very emotional while reading and enthralled with Daniel and Ayana’s torturous journey forced on them by warlord Kronte who has done some very inhumane things that I hated the soul that resided within him.

Daniel and Ayana endured and faced serious dangers that seemed to be against them at every turn in order to overcome to get to a place of peace in their lives. I was on edge with its climatic twists and turns as the author paints a very vivid picture of the effects of trauma endured and how it suffocates them mentally and physically. I became lost in the drama of it all, but the love that is displayed throughout shows the healing and bonding unfolding that brought a sense of peace to them and to me.

These characters deal with serious situations that require strength, patience, endurance and a lot of faith to get through. The author gave graphic details of how these characters embodied and persevered until the very end and I was so elated with the outcome that warmed my heart after so much tragedy. An excellent story that will amaze you and while this story may trigger some, the message is written beautifully and nicely narrated by Ian Eugene Ryan

From War to justice

The work put into this book is amazing. It's like reading and imaging yourself in the middle of each scene as they play out. Dr. Bennett is intense, passionate and unyielding while Ayanna is tenacious, empowering and the love Dr. Bennett needs. I was left wanting and needing more. The author Navi Robins took us on a journey of murder, revenge, love and justice. I would recommend this book and other reads from this author. Well done, Mr. Robins!
