Publisher's summary

This often sweet, occasionally angry, but mostly hilarious true story of one Southern woman's swim through the murky waters of marriage and divorce is a quirky gem. Judy Conner refers to her former husband simply as "That X," which is perfectly understandable considering some of the antics he pulled. Although the stories of her X are sometimes humiliating, they are always funny. And Conner makes one thing perfectly clear. She and her X shared a love - albeit a surreal one - that was completely true.

Not what I expected

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This story actually put me to sleep several times. The monotone reading did not keep my attention

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The story was truly something that could happen in the south.

How could the performance have been better?

Another reader that was "from the south" with a southern attitude and a refreshing happiness in the voice

Did Southern Fried Divorce inspire you to do anything?

no

Any additional comments?

This was not as expected. Other southern women books will always be welcomed but this one just did not make the grade.

The real New Orleans

This slice of life saga is very entertaining, has recipes and in places will make you cry just like some of my very best friends here.
It is a treat as well in audio, the narrator gets the dialect just right and most of the words.
This is a book you will want to keep and listen to again and again.

Good story, needs a better narrator

I liked the recipes. The narration makes the book almost unlistenable. You can hear every juicy movement of her mouth, like someone chewing steak with their mouth wide open. It was just gross.
