About this listen

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From “a legal literary legend” (USA Today) comes a gripping thriller of two childhood friends who find themselves on opposite sides of the law as adults, with all of John Grisham’s trademark twists and turns.

For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Keith Rudy and Hugh Malco grew up in Biloxi in the sixties and were childhood friends, as well as Little League all-stars. But as teenagers, their lives took them in different directions. Keith’s father became a legendary prosecutor, determined to “clean up the Coast.” Hugh’s father became the “Boss” of Biloxi’s criminal underground. Keith went to law school and followed in his father’s footsteps. Hugh preferred the nightlife and worked in his father’s clubs. The two families were headed for a showdown—one that would ultimately happen in a courtroom.

Life itself hangs in the balance in The Boys from Biloxi, a sweeping saga rich with history and with a large cast of unforgettable characters.

Don’t miss John Grisham’s latest novel, Camino Ghosts, and the upcoming Framed, his first work of nonfiction since The Innocent Man!

Still a fan

I'm wondering if anyone else is struggling to get into the story. this one doesn't seem to flow like the others, and there's way too much technical talk for me.

Enjoyed all the history of the coast. The story was great & left me hoping for more of Kieth Rudy.

Fictionalized,account,of,the real life Dixie Mafia

There was a Dixie Mafia. It was headquartered, if that’s the right word, in Biloxi Mississippi, but its tentacles reached across the south. John Grisham has brought to life a fictionalized account of the Biloxi origins of this criminal enterprise. It is the story of two boys from the same wrong side of the tracks who went on to fame and fortune in very different ways. One took over his father’s casinos in or houses and the other took over his fathers job as the district attorney who crusaded against those establishments and met an untimely death at the hands of the Dixie Mafia ,

great story teller

Michael Beck is an outstanding narrator. The story is realistic,at times challenging to hear but captured my attention. The ending was perfectly written.

Good story.

I’ve read a lot of Grisham and usually enjoy his work. I think this was one of his better efforts.

I love the story line and know the area. I didn't want the story to end. I couldn't put it down.

Impossible!

How can John Grisham possibly writ so many consistently gripping stories? And each is so unique.
