Left us hanging

Love the series and I've learned a lot. Was really disappointed when lessons 9-35 did not follow the awesome technique in the previous courses or lessons. Defeats the purpose of the "audible" approach. I wish Paul had continued teaching those the same way. Very frustrating.

Pablo Noble does it again

In first two books Paul does a fantastic job teaching you in a fun way. The third book is different than the first two, but it is exactly what you need in order to grow further, and still quite fun to work through. This guy is a genius. Dialogs are carefully crafted; very, very carefully crafted. Beneath the surface of a fun situation there is a main theme (say, an important tense whose name you can't even remember), syntax examples/variations, reinforcement of previous things and a sprinkle of the future ones... It's worth every penny. I also have a proposal; please provide an HTML text-only version of the booklet, because carrying the printed version around is not convenient, and PDF wastes a lot of real estate on a mobile device's screen.

The Paul Noble Method

Paul Noble's newest addition to his Spanish learning series is exactly what I needed. Unlike the previous two books in the series, this one focuses less on acquiring vocabulary and grammar content and more on developing listening skills. Mastery of the first and second books is not required to benefit from this one. While I own both, I have mostly mastered the first and just begun the second. However, I recommend completing at least the first book and having an overall vocabulary of 500 words. As usual, Paul introduces new words and builds upon them, which is why I didn't find it necessary to finish the second book before starting this one. It's simply more content and immersion to break the monotony of my other resources.

I was deciding between starting Paul Noble's German series and this book. I was worried that the content would be beyond my skill level or just a rehash of past material. Many books of this type tend to read an entire story in the target language followed by an English translation, which I find unhelpful for learning through audio. Noble, however, does a great job of packing just enough content into a digestible chapter. He then spends multiple micro-chapters delving into particular words and meanings before finishing with exercises based on the content rather than a direct rereading. This approach is useful because the goal of this book isn't just to memorize new words but to acquire listening skills. If you memorize each chapter, you don't actually learn to listen—you only learn to parrot the content.

The publisher's summary promises no grammar tests, no memory drills, and no chance of failure, which aligns with Noble's method of using typical, fun conversations to improve everyday Spanish speaking and listening skills. Ideal for travel preparation and resume experience, this course covers both European and Latin American Spanish. It includes a 13-hour course and a handy downloadable booklet to reinforce learning.
