About this listen

Major Tyson Bradford had two mistresses - his family and his career. He loved them both. For the first time, the two were demanding his presence at the same time. He'd failed to secure his ailing eighty-year-old Aunt into his home. All the traditional methods failed to produce the results he needed. Lynay's four-year-old son had severe asthma. Fear strangled her each time he fell gasping to breathe. Her minimum wage job barely kept up with his escalating medications costs. Medicaid only went so far. Her baby needed more help than she could provide.

Anne, her best friend suggested something unconventional, a contract marriage. Anne's brother's deployment would take place in less than a week. Desperate, Tyson and Lynay agree to a marriage that would meet both of their pressing needs. His only requirement: absolute fidelity during their marriage. Since Lynay hadn't been sexually active since the birth of her son, she agreed. Everyone got what they wanted, right? Wrong. Allison, Tyson's ex-wife refused to accept not only their divorce of three years, but Tyson's re-marriage as well.

An uncommon path of destruction pummeled Tyson's Achilles heel. Seeds of deception were sown, and ultimately led to the breakup of their marriage. But to a woman scorned, the breakdown of the faux marriage was simply gravy. She intended to teach him a lesson.

Her ultimate vengeance: his total ruin. In her hatred, she forgot one thing. She messed with his family. And nobody messed with his family, for long.

So Good

Fayetteville NC in the house! Fayetteville State U, Henderson, NC, and Durham, NC...... The only thing I didn't like was the narrator. The way some of the white people spoke in the book did not come off as realistic. I will look for more of this author's work. I did enjoy the book from start to finish.

Nice fun listen

Nice, fun listen... Not the best narration...but still worth the listen. I enjoy the story and romance progression between the two main characters. A marriage of convenience that turns into love... plus military is always a bonus... and the whole b/w thing really is a plus too... nice drama...

Nice buy since it's so cheap... save credits for something with a bit better narration... but still worth a listen...

One of the best IR books!

I read this book a couple of years ago and fell in love with The Bradfords! Erosa Knowles is a phenomenal story teller and the narrator really brought this book to life!

Special Fory

This is a good book. I also have it on my Nook. I do not like the accent given to Lynay on the audible book.

Gum Smacking Stereotype

The story line was good and may have been enjoyable, but the narrators' speech pattern was over delivered as stereotypical ly black. In addition to the unnecessary speaking pattern, the narrator sounded as if she was chewing and popping gum the entire story.

Nooo

What didn’t you like about Quiana Goodrum’s performance?

This narrator is horrible, It sounds like she was chewing gum through the hole story. Ugg I am so upset that I used a credit for this. I actually like Knowles books but this narrator was so horrible I wanted to wash my ears out with soap. Ugg Ugg Ugg

Good

I really liked the storyline. The narrator was good, but I could hear a male talking in the background at one point. There was other background noise. It also sounded like the narrator was chewing gum at times.
