About this listen

Authority is a tremendous thing in the universe, nothing overshadows it. God's throne is established on His authority. God's authority represents God Himself. God alone is authority in all things; all the authorities of the earth are instituted by God. It is therefore important for us who desire to serve God to know the authority of God.

God's authority is absolute, hence we must give Him absolute submission (our heart's attitude) and absolute obedience (our outward actions). But to His delegated authorities we can render absolute submission, but only relative obedience. For their authorities are circumscribed by the measure of the life of Christ in them. Only when they themselves submit to God's authority in them are they able to represent God. Hence there is much we have to learn about how to represent God.

Enjoyed this audiobook

I have been to Christian for the last 15 years. I really didn’t understand authority until I heard this book. I had to read this for our men’s group at our church. Glad the recommendation.

delegated authority

so no church or government meets the qualifications of a legitimately delegated authority, and whether you are made martyr by refusing to kneel to the illegitimate authority of anyone from nero to communist china: its all the same as far as the lord is concerned.

Authoritative book on authority

Written from the notes of people who listened to Nee's lectures, this book offers a 3D perspective on God's authority as exercised through people. It also explores our weaknesses in submitting to it, as well as our tendency to abuse it. Very convicting book, and made to help believers grow.

Must read!

Tons of truths revealed to take the authority of the believer. Where is our path in repentance, authority, service, obedience, leadership, calling, and into your unique position in the ecumenical body. God only numbers the troops that march in rows and ranks having no use for rebellion in His house or in His army of hosts.

Love Watchman Née writing

By reading his books helps me grow in my spiritual walk, he backs everything back to the Bible.
I thank God for blessing Mr. Née, in such a way that after so many years people like myself can read, enjoy and grow.

Finish the whole book

When I first started reading this book, I was very concerned. It came across as legalism and even seemed to promote a mentality that made people "spiritual dummies" as they sought to be submissive to anyone who appeared to be in some kind of authority. Even statements made about submitting to worldly authority sounded questionable. Especially experiencing life as a black woman, which are two categories that have notoriously been targeted by governments for unjust, cruel, and unequal treatment. There were also some places that sounded sexist and appeared to validly many of those in authoritative positions feeling as if they shouldn't be questioned. I was very concerned about this book and felt that if it got into the wrong hands, it would encourage bondage and misery in some Christians life.

However, after finishing the entire book, I feel more at ease about the overall message. A lot of my concerns were eventually addressed and clarified. With this in mind, I would urge readers to finish the entire book before drawing conclusions. There's a lot to learn here about authority and how God's mind works concerning it.

ego check

If contradiction is associated with falsity I would be lying if I said I never contradicted myself, and therefore sometimes am false, and therefore not any better than anyone else I think I am in the Lord. Are we contradicting ourselves when our mouths say we are submitted and willingly under the authority of God? Am I still struggling with co-existing with the monsters of men? It is my pride then and I do. Therefore I am not really abiding under the authority of God. This book helped me see through the smudged window of my humble pride, its real, and one must grapple with this book if they wish to be reunited with the Most High God. It's worth every minute.
