About this listen

Quintessential Elmore Leonard, Split Images stars Palm Beach playboy Robbie Daniels. He's the kind of guy who gets away with everything - even murder - until a vacationing Motown cop, Bryan Hurd, starts asking questions. When this millionaire reptile reveals the psychopath beneath his slippery skin, Hurd finds out this is one helluva way for an out-of-town lawman to spend his vacation.

Quite enjoyable

Enjoyed the book and the reader very much. I thought he did a great job with different voices and accents. Story is entertaining. Maybe not Leonard’s best but held my interest for the entire book!

George and Elmore can’t be beat!

Great reading, outstanding writing, from two masters! Even if you read this book, listen to it again…

An Excellent Story

Some of Leonard’s stories are tongue-in-cheek, but not this one. This one is serious and also sad, if not bitter. I’d have to say it’s one of his best. Guidance does an especially good job at capturing not just accents, but the attitudes of the characters. Really well done.

Can’t stand the reader !

Reader is awful. Makes every character sound like my grandpa. Such a shame. This trader is a no go.

Classic Elmore Leonard

Split between Detroit and Florida, like so many of the best of his works, this modern noir captures the gritty street cop/cowboy hero that is Leonard's trademark. The story is tight and full of twists, the writing is terrific, and Guidall's performance is spot on -- world weary but strong, with subtle but distinctive accents for the characters. This book is a winner.

guidall rules....

always!!! once again breathing life into incredible material. Mr. Leonard was maybe the most consistently spectacular writer of this genre for decades... Guidall and Leonard were the dream team

Couldn't finish it

I love Elmore Leonard. I've read most of his non-westerns. I also usually like George Guidall (He is excellent in the Walt Longmire books. Also liked his narration of the "hot kid" series from Leonard). However here he is just, well, boring and annoying. He is not, imho, the right narrator for Leonard's urban novels. If only with the incomparable Frank Muller had recorded *everything* Leonard wrote.

Elmore stumbles on this one

Big Elmore Leonard fan, but this is one of the few times that he doesn't get the job going. Let alone done. It's like he';s working on it, rough draft and forgets to call in an editor Slow moving
Move on to any of Elmores, Rayland, US Marshal novels for a better listen Sorry Elmore, cause you're da man!

One of his Worst

How my most admired longtime authors could come up with this story with boring repetitive dialogue , wooden characters, and miserable plot I don’t know. I don’t think Elmore Leonard wrote this
