stand your ground

Descent read. Was it over the top as in the description? Not so much but the story line was good. Will probably pick up the next in the series.

More more more! Excellent!

This is the 2nd book I have read from Chris Pike! and all I can say is WOW! She is one hell of a great writer!
and I loved how the story unfolds by looking back on the event! very cleaver! and refreshing! The characters are engaging and well developed. The plot was good and fast paced. I can't wait for the next book.

As alway Keven delivers a stellar performance!

So-So For Me

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is for the audio copy of Stand Your Ground, by Chris Pike and narrated by Becket Royce. The book started out okay. Character development was fair; the plot was slightly different and interesting. It just didn’t grab my attention like other books in this genre. This may be because of me being too critical of the actions of the characters. It wasn’t a bad story, just not a great story in my opinion. It is the first time I have listened to a narration by Becket Royce and she did a very good job with reading the story.

I just love this genre

No matter how many ways I listen to/read about an apocalypse, I still absorb something new. The is a very fine book and looks like a great series. I highly recommend this series. Now for the obligatory: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

Unfinished, but no cliffhanger

This is another unfinished story. It doesn't end in a cliffhanger, exactly, but it's obvious there's more to the story. It's typical post-apocalyptic suspense, some parts more believable than others. The characters are fairly well developed, but rather flat.

Becket Royce delivers an outstanding performance. I hope to have the opportunity to review future books in this series.

A good read

This is a well crafted story with a good variety of characters that will entertain most listeners.

A good performance by the Narrator makes the Audio Book an entertaining experience.

Terrifying

The thing that I find the most troubling are the things the most plausible. Things like biological attacks. Tiny bacteria or virus particle that may give us a bit of a runny nose or a virus like that of the 1918 flu.

That is the villain in this book. A biologic. The story centers around two teen girls and how they adapt to a changing world that in a flash is different. Where do you go? How do you survive ? People you meet are they a friend or are they a certain foe ?

These are the Changes that they face. The book is part of a series and the premise is a your college student wishes write book based on one of the now near 70 yr old woman’s story. It bounces a bit from the current day to her past. After awhile you get used to it but it’s a bit challenging to follow at first. After a few chapters it was a non issue.

The narration is the always great Kevin Pierce. He adds his unique inflection and pace as he builds up tension in his narration that leads you to thinking .... “Oh no!” at times.

I was given this book to review by the author and the thoughts and options are my own honest feelings after listening.

Skeptical at first

one look at the cover and i was ready to not pick it up. It has this generic picture of an eagle and a flag. But once the story kicks in and plot gets going the story is really engaging. Just wish the cover wasn't so bad.

Great Story Line

Great Story Line, strong female characters.
I am really hoping that there is s 2nd
or 3rd book to follow, if there isn't, I will extremely disappointed in the author.
