Publisher's summary

When the heavens go dark, hearts still glow for a mortal woman and a god in an exhilarating fantasy by Charlie N. Holmberg, Wall Street Journal best-selling author of Star Mother.

In a heavenly war, the moon is prevailing....

It happens in an instant, filling Aija with dread: The Sun is suddenly cast from the sky, throwing the Earth into midday darkness. On the fourth day of endless night, Aija finds an unconscious man by the river. His skin is as hot as her lantern’s glass and just as golden. To Aija, a farmhand with the soul of an artist, this beautiful stranger is an inspiration - and a mystery. He calls himself Saiyon. He bleeds light. His friends are celestial. His enemies, godlings of the moon.

Between Aija and Saiyon, attraction grows warmer. For Aija, an unfathomable revelation: she’s falling in love with the earthbound Sun God. When Saiyon’s faltering powers are restored to full glory, what then? There’s a way Aija can become immortal, too. Saiyon can’t support such a risk.

Aija chooses to follow her heart to places darker and more dangerous than she realizes. Whatever sacrifices lie ahead, they’re the only way to make an impossible true love last forever.

another winner by C. Holmberg

A great quest for love that lasts, this story presents Gods that need humans and a human who learns what it takes to love a god.

What a narrator

The story was a little directionless-less seeming in places. However, the narrator carried it off flawlessly. A wonderful voice with excellent range of emotions communicated. I liked the fact that the different voices she read were not the point; rather the storyline was allowed to take center stage.

A beautiful 2nd story in this series

I like the unique way of looking at the realm of celestial‘s. These books have been very enjoyable without being pessimistic or dark. I was the first book and the second are a hero’s journey. This and the previous book are both romance novels, but not in the traditional sense, and they are much more wonderful for it. I appreciate having a little time away from the struggles of the day.

Beautifully poetic

This is the second installment of the series. Just as the first, it is beautiful, poetic, creative, well-written, well performed, and captivating. I am looking forward to book 3 of the series.

I didn’t want to read this…

….I had loved Star Mother so much that I kept avoiding starting this book. I couldn’t imagine a different tale. A different love for Sion. I couldn’t imagine anything that would take away from the first book. I was terribly wrong. What an amazing beautiful love story. The characters the dialogue the setting the magic… I encourage everyone who loves Charlie to read this book! I am so very grateful that I did!

Amazing Storyline

I just love this book, Charlie N. Holmberg's imagination never ceases to amaze me. I enjoyed the narrator, this is the first book I've heard her narrate. When listening at night she lulled me right to sleep, so soothing. I reccomend both books in this series.

Mixed

I didn't enjoy this one as much as Star Mother. The bulk of the book was a little cringe and hard to get through in that the headstrong and desperate main character does desperate and stupid things to get what she wants but succeeds in the end because she is headstrong, so the book just takes you through the motions of all this until we get to the happy ending. I'm not saying that every book needs to be jam-packed with twists and turns, only that the journey should be as enjoyable as reaching the destination, and it wasn't the case for this book. All the same, the book was moving at the end and made it worth the struggle.

Imaginative and elegant but simple

A love story put to the test. The entirety of all the world was so imaginative. It seems like a long time to get to the end.
