About this listen

Someone wants Georgie Brennan dead. And the more she digs for the truth, the fewer people she can trust.

Months after her husband, Sean, is killed by a hit-and-run driver, physicist Georgie Brennan discovers he lied to her about where he had been going that day. A cryptic notebook, a missing computer, and strange noises under her house soon have her questioning everything she thought she knew.

With her job hanging by a thread, her son struggling to cope with his father’s death, and her four-star general father up for confirmation as the next secretary of defense, Georgie quickly finds herself tangled in a web of political intrigue that has no clear agenda and dozens of likely villains.

Only one thing is clear: Someone wants her dead, too. And the people closest to her might be the most dangerous of all.

Praise for State of Lies:

“A voice you’ll want to curl up with, and a plot that won’t let you sleep.” (Tim Tigner, international best-selling author of Twist and Turn)

“Don’t miss this thrilling ride.” (Kelly Irvin, author of Over the Line)

“Siri Mitchell has created a story that will suck you in and not let go. With twists and turns, international intrigue, and danger galore, this book reads like a psychological thriller mixed with healthy doses of suspense.” (Cara Putman, author of the Hidden Justice series)

Twists and turns and secrets and lies!!

Wow, this is an excellent book as are all of this author’s books I have read. Full of intrigue, suspense, a political/ spy thriller. So good. Clean. And the narrator was very enjoyable.

An Intricate Page Turner- Worth Every Minute!

After a few short chapters you’ll consider rescheduling your day to finish this listen. State of Lies is the first book by Siri Mitchell I have read. It won’t be my last. If you like intrigue, plots that continue to unfold and then shift in a blink, and keep giving, don’t miss this.

Really Good

I was sent this book for a blog/instagram tour. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review. Based on the cover I was expecting some type of political thriller and I was right. I will get back to that in a minute. When this started, I was hooked! I actually read this in one sitting as I could not put it down. I really loved the beginning and would probably give this five stars based on that part of the story. I loved the mystery/thriller aspects as well as I was turning the pages to find out what would happen. I more so wanted to know how everything was going to unfold in the end. I was not a huge fan of all the political and War talk. Some of it went over my head and I really had no clue what Georgie was really discovering. I liked the little details around her trying to unfold the information, I just could care less about what was really going on. I know that may sound like I did not like the story then, but I was still loving it. There were new things being thrown our way throughout to keep your interest. Some of what happens was predictable where I did not see other details coming. The ending was much better than I was expecting too! Overall, this was still really good and I highly recommend it whether you like political thrillers or not.

Not My Favorite

Siri Mitchell is one of my very favorite authors, however not this book. This book is fast pace and full of twist and turns. It does reveal her ability to dive into a subject and take readers to a world, an occupation or subject they knew nothing about. Not only take the reader but make them enjoy the journey. In State of Lies the narrator is part of the problem but a weakness in the plot with the bad guys is the biggest problem. The writing is intense and well done. I confess that I am a historical fan. I will remain a Siri Mitchell fan. I would love another Historical.
