Publisher's summary

Can a SEAL without a mission and a widowed baker help each other learn to live again?

Jonah Ferguson never wanted to be anything but a Navy SEAL. But after an injury sidelines his military career, he finds himself back home in small-town Tennessee. Opening a bakery with his best friends and daring to reimagine his life is a whole new mission, but his biggest challenge yet is sticking to the friend zone with the woman who helped give him new purpose.

Two years after losing her husband to a traumatic brain injury, baker Rachel McCleary needs a change. With the proceeds from the sale of her business, she's exploring what a new life would look like. For the short term, it means helping one of her former students make his fledgling business thrive. And hopefully adding some benefits to the friendship that helped bring her back to life.

All Rachel wants is temporary, and that's the one thing Jonah can give her. But when the trouble that's stalked his business from the start lands her in its crosshairs—and the hospital—he can't deny that there's nothing short-term about his feelings. Determined to protect her at all costs, he enters into a dangerous race to neutralize the threat before it torpedoes everything he holds dear.

mystery and love in a small town

Jonah and Rachel are in Eden Edge together after a friends wedding. Rachel is staying with Jonah to help out at Bad Boy Bakers while one of the owners is on his honeymoon.
I love that these two are dealing not only with their emotions for each other but also the mystery surrounding Jonah's father Lonnie and what he was into. All thanks to things that have been happening around the bakery and the woman.
I also loved how the chapter's were set up with narration by Joe Arden for half then the other half was by Amy McFadden.

Jonah and Rachel

The mystery continues with who is targeting the Bad Boys Bakery and why. Rachel was the master baker who trained all of the Bad Boys. She wants a change after losing her husband and wants to see if Jonah could be interested in her. Rachel is caught up in the drama of the attacks on the Bakery and Jonah wants to protect her. Will they find the attackers? Will they be able to create a life together? I was hoping this wasn't the end of this group of friends and from the epilogues, it seems like there will be more. I thought Joe Arden and Amy McFadden were wonderful narrators.

Fabulous wrap to Bad Boys Bakers!!

Holt Ferguson was the driving force behind triple B and encouraging his friends to move to Tennessee. We finally get his story…and the reason behind the vandalisms to BBB. We also get to meet Rachel, the woman who trained the guys to become bakers. Witnessing Holt and Rachel heal their broken souls was beautiful. Witnessing some bad guys get their comeuppance was wonderful! Sad to see the end of this series but the bonus epilogues gives teasers that hint to something new on the horizon…can’t wait!

Great series!

The more I read/listen, the more I love this series. Each book builds on the previous book so you will see familiar characters. I love that these alpha men own and operate a bakery in this sleepy town.

Loads of suspense, lukewarm romance.

Jonah and Rachel’s story is loaded with more questions than answers as danger comes calling at the bakery once again and Jonah’s family’s disfunction is front and center. I liked the suspense, Rachel and Jonah’s budding romance, and catching up with all the characters I have come to know and love in this series. Unfortunately the romantic aspect of the story was lacking because the focus concentrated on the intricate suspense plot and I was frustrated by Jonah’s stubborn self sacrificing tendencies where his relationship with Rachel was concerned. Luckily the entertaining and poignant narration performances of Amy McFadden and Joe Arden helped me deal with Jonah’s shortcomings.
