About this listen

Amy learned a lot in her babysitting course - but not what to do if two thugs show up, intent on kidnapping.

When Amy agreed to babysit little Kendra Edgerton, she had no idea she was stepping into a kidnapping plot. Armed with misinformation and a weapon, the two men force the girls out of the house and take them to a remote cabin in the woods. There they make videos of the girls and mail them to Kendra’s wealthy parents in an effort to get ransom money. After several of her escape attempts fail, Amy is forced to make one last, desperate move, sending clues to the police through the videos. But time is working against her.

In Stolen Children, award-winner Peg Kehret crafts a suspenseful thriller with a spunky, resourceful heroine.

"Plot-driven and consistently paced, this quick read has ample suspense and drama." ( Booklist)
"The story is fast-paced, plot-driven, and involving, with comic relief provided by the captors’ fumbling machinations and little Kendra’s behavior. A sure hit for the intended audience." ( Kirkus Reviews)

I read this book when I was young and havent been able to get the story out of my head, after some googling I finally found it and was able to listen to it through Audible. Pretty good book but I would say it is definitely for young readers.

great book, kind of short

Excellent job keeping me on my toes through the whole story. This makes me kiss my daughter at night.

I my! this had me on the edge the whole time.

The story was good, but there was no real drama or suspense. It seems to be directed towards a younger audience. The narrator’s voice for different characters wasn’t very good. Maybe a different narrator could have helped the story.

What a wonderful surprise!

Realy missed the suspense and terror but that just conforms that this is aimed at younger audiences
And kinda wished the narration was less monotone like.

Amazing

My kids and I decided to read this title, as it was a recommended read for their class. Sometimes the narrator's voice cracked and she speaks a but slow, but we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Loved it!

Loved the wholesome aspect, as opposed to the many kidnapping books where children are trafficked instead of rescued. I was constantly trying to figure out what would happen next. Great lessons on reporting anything you think might be involved with missing person cases.

suspenseful, wholesome, slightly funny, ironic ending

I liked the whole book, it was very nice to read. Full of thrill and emotions that wanted you to be engaged and speak to the characters of the book.

The patience the 14 year old nanny had with Kendra was immaculate not to mention her wisdom.

This book has been loved by my students for years so I finally caved in. I LOVED IT!!! It's a great story showing how you can overcome hurdles even when you're stuck. I love Amy!

Very suspenseful. Listen to it in one sitting couldn’t turn it off. The narrator was a perfect match for the character.
