About this listen

Benjamin Stone has an unrealistic determination to rid the streets of New York from any and all drug dealing scum. That determination quickly moves him and his partner, Rob Withers, up the ranks to Senior Narcotics Agents within their precinct. A new case assisting the FBI has Ben facing the ghosts of his past. Those same ghosts are the very reason he moved to New York to become a cop.

Ella Parker is bright, beautiful, kind, and severely damaged as a result of one tragic night in her past. Having lived an idealistic life that horrific night sent her pretty castle of cards crumbling down. Forced to start over, she leans on her best friend, Andrea Hensen, to help her move on. With Andrea's help, Ella quickly settles into her new life in New York City. It's a safe and comfortable existence, albeit very boring.

Their paths may have never crossed, if it hadn't been for their meddling best friends. Rob and Andrea believe that Ben and Ella are soul mates that were meant to be together, a perfect match. There's one slight problem. Ben and Ella want no part of this matchmaking scheme. Funny thing about fate, it's inevitable.

Or is it?

Can a truth cause the possibility of a happily ever after to crash and burn? Ben and Ella learn that sometimes truth isn't the best answer. Sometimes ignorance is most definitely bliss.

meh story

the story was okay. The tone of the characters got really annoying, air headlight. Chapters going back and forth between the guy's perspective and the girl's perspective and a lot of in the head talk was a bit wearing. the denouement was fairly quick and I actually kept looking to see how much of the book was left after.

Lovers, Secrets, & the Mob

Really enjoyed this audiobook. Well developed characters (Andrea my favorite), very interesting story, and exceptional narration. Loved the nicknames (Batman & Robin, Ken & Barbie, and Superman). Told in alternating chapters by Ella and Ben~two people who have been scarred by violent crimes in their families~brought together by their best friends, Andrea and Rob. A real age turner to the very end. Strong language and graphic sexual situations.

Hot Funny Hot Great Story and Did I Mention Hot?

An incredibly hot and sexy listen with a lot of action and intrigue, for a romance novel. Excellent!

I agreed to listen to this book in exchange partially because it is narrated by one of my favorite (top three) female narrators. While I expected the book to be good – Lynn Barrington has a knack for choosing good/interesting books to narrate – I was surprised that it was great, fantastic, excellent!

So let's get my thoughts of the narrator taken care of: Professional, maneuvers easily between male and female characters, while giving each their own unique voice. I have run out of things good things to say about Lynn Barrington...top 3 for a reason.

The book/writing: This is a well-thought-out and intriguing, contemporary romance. Stone Walls revolves around four main characters and several, important, secondary characters. From the first group; Andrea and Rob are forever trying to set their single friends up. They are blissfully happy and in love & they want that for their friends. Their targets in Stone Walls are Andrea's best friend, Ella & Rob's police partner Benjamin Stone.

After a really funny, surprise 'first date' -it does not go well- with Ben and Ella part ways, gladly… However, their paths are about to cross again and again – both personally & professionally. I don't want to add too much to the publisher summary, as every 10 minutes it seems something important happens and I don't want to spoil.

Of course, Ben Stone & Ella Parker have had horrific, family events in their past. That Ben insists on investigating and not sharing with Ella.

Notes: Lots and lots of descriptive sex & some strong language.

As soon as I finished listening to this, I immediately looked up the author and put her other book on my WishList. This rarely happens with books that *I receive in exchange for my review (as was the case here.) I believe A.M. Madden has potential to have a long career writing in this genre & if she chooses Lynn Barrington to perform, it's a perfect match!

Thank you for reading my review. If you found it helpful, would you take a moment and select yes immediately below this text. Thank you.

Great Book!

Any additional comments?

This is a great book written by A.M. Madden and narrated by Lynn Barrington. Benjamin Stone wants to rid the streets of New York from the drug dealing scum. When he and his partner, Rob Withers move up the ranks to Senior Narcotics Agents within their precinct. Ella Parker is bright and beautiful and is severely damaged as a result of one tragic night in her past. When their meddling friends fix them up they don’t want any part of the matchmaking scheme.

The narrator Lynn Barrington, did a wonderful job, and was very easy to listen too. She did a great job with the different characters and their voices. I have enjoyed every book that I have listened to by this narrator.

This book has a great story; if you are looking for a great romance with humor, then you need to get this book. I am looking forward to the next book by this author. Once I started listening to this book, I didn’t want to stop until the end.

A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

HUMOR,HEAT,SUSPENSE & DRAMA.. WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?

Ella and Andrea are best friends and workmates, Ben and Rob (aka Batman and Robin) are friends and Partner Detectives having gone through the Police Academy together and Andrea and Rob (aka Ken and Barbie) are so happy and in love that they both want that for their friends. The trouble is neither Ella nor Ben want it and, even when they are set-up on a date, they both feel resentful and Ben especially stubbornly refuses to interact which spills into an awkward first meeting. However, there is definitely something there even though neither one acts on it and it isn't until a few brief encounters and communications later that have them realising that they are more alike than they had first thought, had tragic backgrounds in common..... and most importantly they can't stop thinking and lusting after each other. They want each other in a bad way but resent all the distracting feelings that are consuming their every thought.

But their lives didn't just entwine romantically because, as the story slowly unfolds, the Mob case Ben's now working on (alongside the FBI), deeply involves the unsuspecting Ella and he has to break the news to her that she isn't quite who she thinks she is, she's in danger and her life is about to dramatically change. And Ben is unaware just how traumatic, bloody and deadly those changes are going to be to the mission..... and to his heart. However, Ben (her Superman Superhero) plans to be there, by Ella's side, supporting her, protecting her and loving her...... but sorry Ben, because things don't quite go as planned.

Ben Ella Rob and Andrea all have friendly, sarcastic and quick witted banter between them and you really feel the respect and caring they each have for one another. There's drama, intrigue, suspense and bloodshed caused by the Mob trying to 'tie up' loose ends which includes a twist and a few revelations. Ben undergoes a much needed character growth along the way as he looses his attitude and his heart because of Ella and their love for each other..... which has sizzles, sex and heat but there's also plenty of romantic scenes and tender words too.

Worth a credit! Alternating POV's and a good narrator adds to a really enjoyable story that's very addictive because of the heartwarming romance, the likeable characters and their close friendships, the humor, the sexy caring hot hero, the thrills and chills that's encountered along the way. And, in my book, that all adds up to a creditworthy listen.

Hot Romance with a Mystery thrown in ....

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that it was a romance with a solid mystery thrown in also. Some books can be good in one category ~ romance OR mystery but A.M. Madden has shown that they are equally good at both. I am looking forward to more of their work.

Which character – as performed by Lynn Barrington – was your favorite?

As usual, Ms. Barrington hits this one out of the park. Each of the main characters: Ella, Ben, Andrea and Rob are well voiced. She makes each character stand out and shine at the right moments. Ms. Barrington keeps you in the story and makes you want to come back for more. Its always sad when a book that she narrates ends. You just want more!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Ella was in the hospital and Ben was by her side. The dedication he shows is what you want to see from a partner/lover/spouse.

Any additional comments?

I received this book from the author, narrator and/or rights holder in exchange for an honest review.
