About this listen

A book unlike any ever written by a leader of the conservative movement, because the stories told are unlike anything ever experienced by any public figure on the American scene today.

Stops Along the Way tells tales of 10 red-headed Catholic children raised on a farm in the ’60s, just 70 miles from our nation’s capital, yet so rural that they could be welcomed by both the KKK and a diminutive black man who would become part of the family; attending high school in the ’70s in another country on another continent alone with two brothers, free to explore mysterious castles and watch gripping bullfights while enrolled in a school built in the Middle Ages; working in the ’80s in the most successful political enterprise of its time, yet forgotten just one generation later; shooting commercials in war zones while accused of starting a war; and have you ever wondered what it was like to take off on one airplane from inside a cornfield, or look out the window of another and watch a rocket ship fly by? Stops Along the Way tells all this, and so much more - timeless stories that are the perfect antidote for today’s poisonous headlines.

Some wonderful stories. Narration - not so hot.

It’s such a loss when people don’t bother to read their own books. The narrator mispronounced so many English words; and, his Spanish pronunciation was even more severely lacking. It would have added a lot if Bozell had read it himself.

Having said that, there was a lot in the content of the book that was magnificent - the idyllic upbringing in rural Virginia; his gentle, loving attitude toward his alcoholic father; the adventures of a "free range" education in Spain; the travels to Sandinista Nicaragua; the final story of the stewardess. All those tales, and the philosophy underlying them, were wonderful and wonderfully told; but, they would have been infinitely better read in Brent Bozell’s voice.

fun, eye ppening and reminiscent

this book takes the reader to many enjoyable places and shows the reader just how far we have moved away from our spirit of values and spirit of community. As I listened I could remember myself as a little boy having a wonderful experiences in our family and in the community. I could likewise remember my own time in the Iberian Peninsula. But real eye-opening is just how far American society has moved away from what made us great and made being in our families and our communities so enjoyable. I miss my childhood, I miss my country, and I miss my Catholic faith.

Loved the family stories

What a memorable portrayal of a big Catholic family. The kind of family among those I knew growing up in the 50’s and 60’s. I know I will listen over and over.

A window in to how things were not too long ago.

A great adventure story. As a youth growing up in the 60's and 70's, the stories of Mr. Bozell's younger days bring back memories of Growing up outside of Annapolis, MD. Summers spent in and on the water with interesting characters. Our family was of more modest means. But, we had the same kind of freedoms. Not a helicopter (mom) to be heard.

All of the stories were great and make me miss my days of high adventure. Who knows, perhaps it has inspired me to have a few more before my untimely demise.

Keep up the good work.

Brent is a unique individual & Patriot

I had the good fortune of meeting Brent and his lovely sister, Maureen, while attending the University of Dallas. His adventurous nature was demonstrated to me as Brent and I joined a few of his friends during an all-night excursion to explore the fairly new DFW airport complex. I'm sure that Brent's friends greatly appreciate his discretion with not disclosing names from the University of Dallas escapades in order to protect the guilty!
