What happens when your favorite children’s stories suddenly come to life? A dream to walk in the woods of Narnia or wake up in Abarat, or countless other stories. But what if those beloved children’s stories come to life were suddenly turned dark and tried to kill you. That is some of what we have with Strangewood. With clear influences of Clive Barker throughout this story, if you loved the Abarat stories or The Thief of Always then you’ll probably love this one as well. It’s a boys imagination come to life with a twist. At the heart of the story is a deep pain which adds incredible flavor to the tale. Scott Macdonald is amazing in bringing all of the characters to life. The images are so vivid that you will feel transported to Strangewood yourself. I loved every bit of it. Take the journey to Strangewood, you will not regret it.

Fell in love with Strangewood when it was first published and narrator Scott MacDonald does pretty great job of being the story to life. I would always recommend the book so it’s good to know I can always recommend this audio rendition now too.

Always a wonderful story.
