About this listen

From the best-selling author Bobby Andrews comes a thrilling new tale of a post-apocalyptic world. ISIS has unleashed a weaponized version of the deadly Ebola virus, killing 97% of the world's population. Only the immune and those who hunkered down in remote locations remain.

Through the chaos strides a giant of a man known only as Stryker. He is a former Force Recon Marine, who has lost as much as anyone, but fights to preserve his honor and creed in the face of slave traders and rogue military elements who prey on the innocent. Together with his former drill instructor, Sarge, they struggle to eliminate the remaining evil elements in society, even as the nation's infrastructure crumbles and life becomes considerably more difficult. Together, they care for three young women who survived the plague and attempt to give them lives that are as normal as possible under the circumstances.

Follow along as they travel through a world gone mad, determined to defend the weak and innocent against long odds.

Great start to a new series

Any additional comments?

Even though this is a shorter book, it didn't feel like it. A lot of shorter books leave you feeling like something was skipped or left out. That is not the case here. There is a lot of story packed into this book. Suspenseful, interesting, sometimes humorous and enjoyable.

When you think about everything going on in the world today the premise of this book is scary.

The story starts 2 years after the die off or the apocalypse. There are flashbacks to Stryker's past when the plague first started showing what he went through. Stryker has been alone for the most part since that time, except for occasional visits to a trading post. When his former drill instructor arrives needing his help Stryker's world is changed again.

Stryker has great taste in music even if it's only in his head.

Just when the story was getting really good it ended. The dreaded cliffhanger. How soon will book 2 be out.

Kevin Pierce did a great job with the narration as usual. He has the perfect voice for the alpha male ex-military hard**s. Great for this type of story. He has one of those voices that you never get tired of listening to. Good character voices even the females. Clearly spoken. Smooth delivery. Nice even pace. All around great job.

Interesting, Simple, Straight forward, enjoyable..

Finally, the zombie apocalypse without the zombies, an end of the world story without the ravaging hordes. Now what to do?

A hardened Marine, his former drill sergeant, a few 20 something women facing a brave new world and an evil group without conscience, Ok there will be enough to keep everyone busy even without zombies

This is a good story with an interesting twist to the Apocalypse genre. This book is a solid character and story line builder. There are some good action moments and several humorous sections. Overall a good solid and entertaining story.

As always, Kevin Pierce does a wonderful performance and makes the story an easy, enjoyable listen.

New take on the apocalypse

I enjoyed this read. A plague that kills, not zombies not EMP. Delivered by ISIS in world takeover attempt. Good characters well developed, easy to like and easy to hate. Enjoyed it. Good narrator have heard from him before and He continues to deliver a good story. Will seek the rest of the Stryker series. I hope this is book one of many

If you could sum up Stryker in three words, what would they be?

Riveting, entertaining, suspenseful

Who was your favorite character and why?

All of them and I don't give away plots in reviews so you have to trust me on this

Which character – as performed by Kevin Pierce – was your favorite?

Kevin is a great narrator, I've listened to him on other books and enjoy his performances immensely

Any additional comments?

New and different twist on everything gone bad and only getting worse. Well written and performed, only regret? I wish it was longer......

A great story with a great main character.

I really liked the idea of this book. The whole reason for most of the population dying off was very unique to me and I can't wait for the next book. Stryker is by far one of my favorite main characters. His courage and loyalty are vast, only trumped by his determination to protect those he loves. There was a good balance of survival and action which is very much needed in a book where most of the worlds people have died off.

The narrator of this book did an outstanding job. His voice goes very well with how I view Stryker. He really brought this story to life for me.

Solid post-apocalyptic boiler-plate.

Any additional comments?

Hard-charging ex-military hero? Check. Crusty old ex-military mentor figure? Check. Bad guys invading the homeland? Check. Team of damsels in distress turned unlikely heroines? Check. If you're looking for a solid, by-the-numbers post-apocalyptic story, this one's it. The narration was good, and the writing and characterization were decent. If I have any complaint it's that the cliffhanger ending could have been built up a bit more by showing a couple more cut scenes of the baddies preparing. As it was, the ending was a bit abrupt. Still, I enjoyed the story and I'm intrigued to see where it goes.
