About this listen

Sixteen years ago, Sailor Mooring’s mother dove into the Atlantic Ocean and was never seen again. Now, Sailor is following her mother’s long swim to find answers to the questions that have haunted her life: Why did her mother leave? And what really happened the night Sailor’s father died?

Callum Murchadh has spent the last five years banished from his home and his people. At 19, he now lives a human life in the northern islands of Scotland, where maintaining a quiet existence is crucial to keeping his secrets hidden.

But having a finfolk girl step off the ferry and into his life was the last thing he expected.

Sailor finds herself both drawn to Callum and frightened by his warnings. He may hold the clues she needs to reach the ancestral home of her people, but knowing whether to trust him isn’t easy.

Dive deeper into the world of the finfolk of Swans Landing in this sequel to Surfacing.

A fresh idea

Definitely young adult literature. As an old adult with young adult children, at times I wanted to ground the main character. Amanda Ronconi was brilliant, as always. I bought the books because it was not murder, zombies, werewolves, vampires or broken women are the center of the story.

It's good enough I want the third book in the series to know what happens to the characters. I only wish for less of the self-centered teen think.

The biggest issue is the rush to the end of the book and the very abrupt ending.

Loved it!

I loved the first book and this second book was as great as the first. I can't wait for the next one.

Slow going...

I enjoyed the first book of this series but this second book seemed to drag on and on, only getting interesting in the last hour. Then, just as I was beginning to enjoy the story, it was over. I will probably listen to the next book in hopes that it is better than the 2nd. The best part of this was the narrator, Amanda Ronconi. She was wonderful, as always.
