About this listen
Hocus Pocus and Practical Magic meets the Salem witch trials in this haunting story about three sisters on a quest for revenge - and how love may be the only thing powerful enough to stop them.
Welcome to the cursed town of Sparrow...where, two centuries ago, three sisters were sentenced to death for witchery. Stones were tied to their ankles, and they were drowned in the deep waters surrounding the town.
Now, for a brief time each summer, the sisters return, stealing the bodies of three weak-hearted girls so that they may seek their revenge, luring boys into the harbor and pulling them under.
Like many locals, 17-year-old Penny Talbot has accepted the fate of the town. But this year, on the eve of the sisters' return, a boy named Bo Carter arrives, unaware of the danger he has just stumbled into.
Mistrust and lies spread quickly through the salty, rain-soaked streets. The townspeople turn against one another. Penny and Bo suspect each other of hiding secrets. And death comes swiftly to those who cannot resist the call of the sisters.
But only Penny sees what others cannot. And she will be forced to choose: save Bo or save herself.

Story
Rumored to be a witch, only Nora Walker knows the truth. She and the Walker women before her have always shared a special connection with the woods. And it’s this special connection that leads Nora to Oliver Huntsman - the same boy who disappeared from the Camp for Wayward Boys weeks ago - and in the middle of the worst snowstorm in years. He should be dead, but here he is alive, and left in the woods with no memory of the time he’d been missing.

Travis Wren has an unusual talent for locating missing people. Often hired by families as a last resort, he takes on the case of Maggie St. James—a well-known author of dark, macabre children’s books—and is soon led to a place many believed to be only a legend. Story
I was cursed. It wasn't an exaggeration. It wasn't even dramatics—though I was prone to those. It was a fact. And a sucky one at that. After inheriting my grandmother's home, I thought my luck had turned around. A fresh start in the one place where I'd found solace from my cruel father. But I was cursed, remember? So rather than a quiet life, I faced mysteries, con artists, disastrous dates, stoned witches, magicks, and evil organizations out to do evil things. And a house that was haunted.

Story
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Entertaining
The narrator has a lovely voice and does an amazing job with inflection and holding the listener's attention. I loved the story line and characters. Occasionally I found myself wishing we could speed things along with some repetitiveness in the storyline. While the author has a way with words, it can be overly descriptive. The ending also left me feeling unsettled like the author couldn't come to one conclusion. i recommend this book. Just make sure you can dedicate the time to it.

Draws You In
It truly is a great book that hooked me right away. The descriptive story telling always drew me in, and I finished it rather quickly.
While good, I will say the story left me wanting to right some of the wrongs written in for the characters. A few deserved so much more, which just a few minor changes. The ending left me feeling a bit…. Disappointed? I don’t want to give any spoilers away, but there were definite changes I’d make.
I would still absolutely recommend this book and will read more from this author.

Can we have more books like this!!
I loved this book so much, I’m off to find it in hardback today! Great suspenseful story that is performed in a soft dream like rhythm that plays well to the tail! I give this book 5 stars and WILL be reading it once more as soon as I can get my hands on it!

Wonderful and heartbreaking, the narrator did a fantastic job conveying the melancholy and uncertainty of the protagonist. I didn't stop listening to it until it was finished. So whimsical.

A lot of detail - mystical story
I actually really liked this book and i was hesitant, the narrator is a little monotone but her voice is sweet and relaxing. The story is great, a lot of details - there's a picture painted for you while listening - it's wonderful.

Nice story .. but depressing
Well that was really depressing
The concept of the story was nice and interesting, the plot was really good and engaging and I wanted to know what will happen .. but towards the end I don't know why I began to lose interest .. I mean, there was a decent plot twist but maybe the ending was the most depressing thing to me .. so yeah .. it was nice .. but not very much
The narration wasn't great .. she was so monotone ans barely talking that I felt sleepy most of the book .. I wish if it was a different narrator

Okay, but not impressed
I was hoping for more story line of the witches themselves and/or anything that they did. But, instead, it was not what I was expected. It still dealt with a story of witches, but not in the context most people would think of. No major plot twists. Character development was good for Hazel, but not for the others. Cheesy ending.
