About this listen

Derrick Starr is a sad excuse for a dominant werewolf. Unlike most werewolves, he's sworn off meat and has an abnormal preference for sweets. He's also in a bad state - his lover left him and he's just learned that he has type 2 diabetes. An unexpected act of kindness triggers his meeting with Jack, a submissive wolf on the run from his abusive Alpha.

When Derrick finds out that Jack is his fated mate, will he be able to do what it takes to protect and claim what's rightfully his?

Would you listen to Sugar-free Beta again? Why?

Yes. Angelique Voisen's Wolves of New Haven series is one of my favorites, and I can't wait to hear the rest of the series. One of the reasons I like this series is that it's so different than other shifter stories. In her series, these wolves are subject to the same health problems (diabetes, high cholesterol, gluten intolerance, and cancer to name a few), and dietary decisions (vegetarian) as mere humans. It's refreshing and there's not much chest thumping and shouting the words MINE!

What about Albert Waxton’s performance did you like?

He had the ability to sound shy and bashful and uncertain. I liked that.

If you could take any character from Sugar-free Beta out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Derek and Jack--they're adorable. But no dessert or meat for Derek.

excellent start of a new series
