From Clementine author Sara Pennypacker, this is a poignant middle-grade novel about two foster children who must find a way to work together in order to survive.
Eleven-year-old Stella misses her (unreliable) mom, but she loves it at great-aunt Louise’s house. Louise lives on Cape Cod, where Stella hopes her mom will someday come and settle down. The only problem? Angel, the foster kid Louise has taken in. The two girls live together but there’s no way they’ll ever be friends.
Then Louise suddenly passes away one morning - and Stella and Angel decide not to tell anyone. Now they have to depend on each other for survival. Now they are forced to trust each other with the biggest secret ever.
With great empathy and humor, Sara Pennypacker tells the story of two very different girls who unexpectedly become each other’s true family.

Would you consider the audio edition of Summer of the Gypsy Moths to be better than the print version?
Both the same. What other book might you compare Summer of the Gypsy Moths to and why?
This is an unusual book with some unexpected moments. The two girls are living with one of the girls' aunts -- one is a foster child, and the other finds out her aunt has been collecting foster parent money for her as well. The aunt dies, the girls discover her, and this is where the unexpected part begins. As you read it, you want to tell the characters what to do, because you think they're making some weird choices.Which character – as performed by Jenna Lamia – was your favorite?
Both characters are really interesting and unusual. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The development of both characters was well done by the author. Both grow and change.Any additional comments?
For a student who has experienced a recent death in the family, this would probably not be a good choice.A Quirky book about two girls about 12 years old

I think the narrator was very good. This made for an interesting listen. I'm hoping Stella and George have a sequel. I want to hear how many fun things they do.
Good and sad
