About this listen

Best-selling romance author Stu Summers expects fawning praise and flirtatious smiles from his female fans, but when his editor at New York's Little Brown Pelican informs Stu that his latest manuscript is a poor imitation of a Nicholas Sparks novel, Stu's carefully crafted career begins to unravel. Stu has one week to deliver a complete rewrite of Lap Dog Love that meets his editor's' demanding standards.

And he would if he could but Stu can't write - at least not romance novels.

For years Stu has paid a "Holy Ghost writer" on the Outer Banks of North Carolina to craft his manuscripts, but now Hattie May Hall has lost that loving feeling and feels God calling her to write paranormal Amish thrillers with an evangelical message woven into "End Times" sci-fi. With a looming deadline and no hope of learning how to write a novel in two weeks, Stu finds himself falling for Kate Winston, a women's self defense products rep selling stun guns, pepper spray, mace defense spray, personal alarms, and tasers.

Kate instantly becomes Stu's source of inspiration, but is his sudden affection for her real or, like everything else about Stu, fake.

As the clock ticks closer to midnight, an unlikely pair of hearts collide, providing a "shocking" climax to a love story that was never meant to be and yet...is.

Oh, big news! Any day now Stu expects to hear from Bollywood regarding the film adaptation of Summers' Love. Then again, he's been waiting any day for three years, so there's that.

Cute and funny!

If you could sum up Summers' Love in three words, what would they be?

Light, funny, pageturner

What was one of the most memorable moments of Summers' Love?

Any of Stu's interactions with his 'Holy Ghostwriter', especially when she comes to Beaufort to talk some sense into him!

What about Linda Cee’s performance did you like?

She was great with the dry humor and caustic comments. :)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Stu had some major strikes against him, but the author did a great job bringing him to the place where he finally got it right. And the things Kate goes through are so close to reality, but with such a funny spin. The question asked for a moment, but i think my favorite was the character arcs.

Any additional comments?

Highly recommend!

Romantic Comedy, maybe...

The tag line "A Cute and Funny Cinderella Love Story" really attracted my interest to this story and I started out enjoying this over-the-top romantic comedy; however, one scene in the story changed the story from being a romantic comedy with zany characters and humorous situations because of an act of violence against a character in the story. This scene dampened my enjoyment of the story completely. Linda Cee's narration is fine. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

just ok

Kind of cute, kind of annoying. Book was easy to not pay attention too. But, nice happy ending..
