About this listen

Arabella Adams was the one woman I would have laid my life down for, no matter the circumstance, because that’s what you would do for your soulmate. But when she broke up with me our senior year of college—for no reason or explanation at all—my world as I knew it fell completely apart. My heart was instantly ripped from my chest...and it was a pain I felt in my very soul, and one I never truly recovered from.

Now, here I am, ten years later, and I’ve finally learned the real reason Bella pushed me away. So, I must prove to her that anything that happened in her past—our past—doesn’t change the way I feel about her. After all, soulmates never stop loving each other, and even a decade later, I will make her see that I will protect her until the day I die.

Because you see, we promised one another we wouldn’t keep secrets, wouldn’t hide parts of ourselves that the other wouldn’t understand. Except, well, I lied. Because the moment I find the person who took Bella from me all those years ago, I’m going to make him pay for every lost moment of the past 10 years, and nothing—not even the fact I’m a cop—will stop me from inflicting the same level of pain on him that Arabella and me endured all this time.

Note to listeners: Arabella endures trauma no woman should have to suffer. Respectfully, the author invites you to emotionally and mentally prepare before experiencing this book on your own terms, should you choose to do so.

Surrender to Me is book four in the Boggy Creek Valley series and can be listened to as a stand-alone. For a better listening experience, I suggest listening to them in order.

An emotional small-town, second chance romance

Did I know what I was about to read when I hit play on the audiobook of Surrender to Me? Nope.
Would I have felt different if I knew this was a second chance, emotional, small-town story? Nope.
I'm so glad I went in blind because Hunter and Bella's smacked me with all the feels, making me gasp and cry. And I just love stories that are capable of doing that.

Arabella Adams and Hunter Turner were always inseparable. They met when they were kids and knew they were meant to be until one day when Bella returns from college and breaks up with Hunter. No explanations, just hurt. They both sort of moved with their lives, Bella focusing on the family business and retreating to herself, while Hunter becomes an officer of the law with the most amazing K-9 dog.

Ten years later, Bella breaks down and tells Hunter what lead her to break up with him. And it's heartbreaking. Kelly Elliot inserted a difficult subject that must be discussed more often. But, she does it gracefully and shows that past experiences and trauma don't define a person.

Hunter's love for Bella is mesmerizing, and the way they slowly get back to their relationship is beautiful. He is patient and kind; she is strong and kind. Surrender to Me is an epic love story of two soul mates that find their way to each other. It might have been a hard and long road, but it gives hope.

The side characters are amazing, but Jack is the best. He is not only protective of Bella, but he also has a way of giving his opinion without even speaking. Lastly, because I listened to the audiobook, I must say Ava Lucas and Tyler Johnson brought Bella and Hunter to life. Their narrations made perfect the reading experience.

Outstanding & Emotionally Gripping Story & Listen!

Kelly Elliott continues to wow me with another amazing novel set in Boggy Creek Valley. Each book features different lead characters and stands on its own, though characters from earlier books make appearances and it is beneficial to know their backstories, plus seeing them again is like seeing old friends. This book is Arabella “Bella” Adams and Hunter Turner’s story, the story grabbed my attention immediately and captivated it the entire book, it also tugged on my heartstrings the entire time too. You can feel how much heart Ms. Elliott put into this book, the emotions pour off the pages and straight to the heart, even putting it thru the wringer a few times. Bella and Hunter were a solid couple, and they even survived a long distance relationship when they both went to different colleges. But with only months left of school, Bella breaks it off with Hunter not giving a reason to him or to anyone. After that, she basically shut herself off from the world, kept in touch with close friends but seldom socialized or went out of her immediate circle. Hunter was heartbroken and tried to, to no avail, get her to talk to him and change her mind. She would not give him the time of day and always avoided him, not an easy task since he was a cop in Boggy Creek. Fast forward ten years and Bella gives Hunter an inch, he is hesitant at first since he does not think he can survive another broken heart, but he takes that inch and waits to see where it goes. Hunter tried to move on in those ten years, but there was no one else for him. This is story is so much more that a second chance romance, the author’s wonderful writing style and descriptive takes you right alongside her characters allowing you to see, feel and experience everything they do, taking you on their journey of forgiveness, healing and learning to live again. There are some gut-wrenching moments in this beautifully plotted story, traumatic events that were life changing for both Bella and Hunter, and there is no sugarcoating the trauma and the author does a great job keeping everything they went thru afterwards real. If you have triggers, message the author before starting this book. Kelly Elliott, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride, so happy to see that love wins in the end.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Ava Lucas and Tyler Johnson are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit their character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Ava Lucas nailed it as Arabella, grasping her every emotion and had you feeling every single one, Tyler Johnson did the same for Hunter. Both were great at performing the roles of the secondary characters as well. These mega talented narrators are versatile voice artists and entertaining storytellers. They are a pleasure to listen to, and their performance enhances an already amazing story to another level. Thank you for this exceptional listen.

emotional journey for both!

Oh, Kelly. You tore my heart out with this book. Thankfully, you mended it with that ending!!
If you've read this series from the beginning you know Hunter and Arabella have a past... 10 years to be exact. They were madly and wholly in love until the unthinkable happened to her. Now, If you're reading this review you know there's a trigger warning for this book. Kelly deals with a horrible topic in a beautiful way. She doesn't focus or linger on this event but instead focused on this sweet, special and lovable couple.

Im not going to lie: you will cry, there will be angry tears, there will be heartbreakingly sad tears, more angry tears, but above all happy, joyful tears.

Ava and Tyler really do justice to these characters! I read this book and knew I had to listen as well.
