About this listen

What if you got away from it all - and then it all got away from you?

When her husband gets a new job, Marissa Price leaves the island of Manhattan for the island of Hawaii. Paradise seems like the perfect place to find herself, save her marriage, and reconnect with her daughter. But Marissa discovers her new life is less about beaches and beautiful sunsets and more about cows and lava flows. Their new home is a fixer-upper. But what most needs fixing - her marriage - is the first thing to crumble when her husband announces he wants time apart to find himself. Pulled in opposite directions, Marissa is faced with the most important decision of her life - a choice that will define who she is, what she wants, and where her happiness lies.

A great story for on your way to vacation, or to listen to after your vacation, if you want to keep the vacation going. If you like a good Hallmark movie, you will thoroughly enjoy this listen.

What did you love best about Sweet Life?

The characters are well developed and the story moves at a good pace with enough subplots to keep it engaging. Ms. King delves beneath the surface and we are drawn into the heart of the main character, and the interesting lives of the others.

If you could take any character from Sweet Life out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I'd love to have dinner with Jane. She leads an interesting life, and I'd like to ask her why she had such a strong reaction to the heroine's (potential) new love.

Any additional comments?

The setting was perfect, a realistic portrayal of South Kohala on the Big Island. This would be a great book for anyone new to the island who might be going through a bit of culture shock. It would also be a great beach read for those on vacation.

More than a romance novel
