How Wrong She Was

Eight years ago, Sydney Patterson’s ex-husband used threats and fear to coerce her teenage daughter into the unthinkable. Haunted by guilt and condemned by her in-laws, she flees to Garfield Oklahoma to build a new life. Now, with a new job, new friends, and a new commitment to Christ, Syd is rebuilding, confident that no one ever needs to know a thing about her humiliating and shameful past.

Be Her Friend

After five years of widowhood, Mason Saxton wants more than friendship with the pretty blonde he met at his son’s wedding. He’s praying about it, and the only thing he’s heard from God is an injunction to “be her friend.” He’s more than willing to start there - at least he was until a vile misunderstanding sends him reeling.

A Matter of Trust and Forgiveness

A marvelous future hangs in the balance, and it all depends on Syd’s ability to trust and Mason’s willingness to forgive. How will these two new believers reconcile the past with the future?

Needing Trust and Forgiveness

Syd a woman that has secrets and guilt, now starting a new job in a new town and Christian friends around her. Mason met Syd at his son’s wedding, offering friendship, would like more. A story that focuses on trust and forgiveness, if they are to have a future. Well done and enjoyed the audio. Given audio for my voluntary review

A wonderful story tackling tough topics

Syd is a great addition to Sharon Srock’s Sisters by Design series. The characters are robust and I loved that Ms. Srock handled tough topics with consideration and class. Syd has a hard background that’s affected not just her life, but the lives of her daughters and grandson. The pain of hiding her secrets has her pushing away those who care for her most. Mason is a wonderful hero, willing to tough it out to the end and unrelenting. I loved that he was willing to fight for Syd. Such a wonderful story and the narration was very well done.

Syd

Syd is the fifth book from Sharon Srock's series, Sisters by Design. I enjoyed Syd's story. I loved it when she met Mason. He was so patient, understanding, a perfect friend that Syd needed. It was, also, to catch up with the previous characters from the series.
For my second reading of Syd, I had the pleasure to listen to the audio version. Becky Doughty did a fantastic job bringing Syd's story to life. Her performance was perfect.
Syd is getting a well deserved five plus stars from me. The true to life characters with real life issues would be great inspiration for other readers. This is a beautiful story of redemption, second chances, and forgiveness.
I received this book from the author, but was not required to write a review. This 100% my own honest opinion.

A second (third) chance at love

SYD: Superb narration of a later-in-life love story. Yeah! Having moved to Garfield, OK widowed and divorced Syd, a new believer thanks to her boss and her new circle of girlfriends, attended a wedding six months back and now, lots of phone calls later, is on her way to falling in love again with another guest at said wedding.

Mason, widowed, trusts the Lord for both a new start and hopefully a chance at a second love-of-his life when he relocates to Garfield, OK, where his son and daughter-in-law live.

Things come to a screeching halt when Syd's older daughter, who was abused and seduced by her stepfather, misunderstands the comforting hug Mason gives her teenage sister at the hospital.

THANK GOD for characters (people) who are willing to communicate openly to clear out misunderstandings to get back on track with their sweet romance.

So looking forward to listening to more books in this audio book series.

Loved It

I really enjoyed this story on learning to trust. The characters each had to work around things that had happened in their lives to be able to move on. They had to learn to not let the past hold them back and not let it influence their future.
I also love the friendship dynamic in the book. It is great to have someone you can lean on and trust, even if it does take a bit of time for that to happen.
I received a copy of the book to listen to , the review is my own.

Friends are PRICELESS!

Syd is another in a series of stories about women who have faced unthinkable situations in their lives. Circumstances causing fear, trauma & pain strong enough to leave them broken. Even though these women are Christians living their faith to the best of their ability, they have each come up against a problem that has left them at a complete loss as to what they are to do next. These women are fortunate enough to have a network of strong Christian friends who are willing to stand with them through the messiness of understanding & restoration. Their friends are loving enough to stand with them even when they may have to share hard truth, yet are clear headed enough to be able to see truths not yet noticed. Many times real friends have to stop them from being excessively harsh with themselves. May we all find friends like these and be friends like these.
The outstanding reason I pick up any story written by this author is because she addresses problems faced either by many of us or by those around us. She writes with great insight into these devastating circumstances and is able to pass on insight about many things that are going on beneath the surface that keep the person bound and unable to easily walk out of what they are facing. She helps us develop compassion and stop viewing others with a simplistic and judgmental attitude. A lot of the insights she shares are transferable from just the story and are relevant to personal growth.
While the narrator did a good job with the story, there were a couple of characters which I felt were a struggle for her.
I requested a review copy of this audio book and have chosen to share why I like it so much.
