About this listen

"Mother taught me to be polite to dragons...."

Daystar never thought he'd be walking through the Enchanted Forest with a magic sword, a fire-witch, and a baby dragon. He never dreamed his mother, Cimorene, would tell him to leave their home and not to return until his task was complete. Or that he alone held the power to release King Mendanbar and the Enchanted Forest from the wizards' evil spell. He doesn't even know who King Mendanbar is.

But Daystar learns quickly, and that's good, because he's about to encounter magic and wizards and dragons - quite a deadly combination.

This great fourth edition wraps up what happened in the third edition. A new character daystar without knowing what he’s doing is Sant into the enchanted forest to solve the problem which was left by the wizards. This time we find out more about fire witches. And the rest of the story line is wrapped up. This is as I understand at the last book in this series. However there is a short story. With any luck audible might get the anthology the short story was published in. Personally i have always hoped the author might return to this story line.

A great fourth edition

Just like the rest of the Enchanted Forest Chronicles, this book is funny, lighthearted, and an absolute blast from start to finish.

An entertaining story from start to finish

This is a good story, with interesting characters. This audio version, however, suffers from exaggerated readings—especially, but not only, Ciara’s—which some actors seem to feel necessary for children’s productions. Screeching and overdone voices distract from the story.

Good book, but some poor performances

great story overall, but there are chapters that are boring and slow. plus at times the voice of Shiara is very very low and hard to hear. otger than that I love this book!

excellent ending to a series.

did a wonderful job of bringing the concluding story of the enchanted forest Chronicles to life. some of it is a little over done, which is probably best for younger readers/listeners, but can be a bit much when trying to listen as a family.

loved the voice cast returning for one more advent

The story picks up 17 years after the last book with Cimorene's son Daystar beginning his own quest - where he encounters some new friends as well as some old favorites. Daystar's character is instantly likable and you can tell he's his mother's son. The cast, as always, does a brilliant job of portraying the characters and bringing the story to life. All in all a wonderful ens to the series.

Perfect ending to the series

I have listened to Talking to Dragons and the rest of the Enchanted Forest Chronicles my whole life and I never get tired of them! They are imaginative, well written stories full of humor, adventure and a little bit of romance. Ms. Wrede does a wonderful job weaving together these beautiful, complex books with allusions to the fairy tales we grew up with and plenty of stylistic flare. The full cast narration is also amazing in that it really brings the characters to life. Talking to Dragons truly has something for everyone and is enjoyable for all ages!

Wonderfully well written and enchanting story
