About this listen

When the mother that abandoned them years ago suddenly shows up and moves them to New Hampshire, Madison has no choice but to go or lose her family. Shoving her dreams aside yet again, she tries to make a life for her siblings only to discover that nothing is going the way that it should. It's really cold. Her fifteen year old sister acts like a hooker in training. Men act funny around her. Her boss is a real jerk. She feels like an outsider. Her best friend turns out to be a mouthy sixteen year old kid and the incredibly handsome guy renting the room adjoining hers not only hogs the bathroom, taking three showers a day and leaving her with cold water, but he also has a secret. A secret that she becomes a bit obsessed with and can't let go no matter how many times she's warned off.

Detective Ephraim Williams learned long ago not to show any emotion or allow himself to get attached to humans. What was the point? They came and went and he remained. This time wouldn't be any different or so he thought. When his landlady told him that her grandchildren were moving in he didn't expect much, well other than to be left alone. What he didn't expect was to have to fight bloodlust every time he so much as caught the scent of his delectable neighbor's blood or her bombarding him with questions every time she cornered him. If that's not bad enough, a Master from his past has found him once again and is demanding his blood and is willing to do anything to get it, even using the beautiful, irritating, neighbor that makes him feel more than pain for the first time in centuries to get it.

Editorial reviews

Just when Madison has it all together, her runaway mother returns and moves Madison and her siblings to New Hampshire. Fortunately, Madison gets a new roommate with a sexy secret. The first installation of the Pyte/Sentinel Series is lots of erotic fun. Stella Bloom's performance heats up this vampire-meets-virgin caper. Bloom's voice is smooth and spirited. With practiced subtly, she brings life to the characters' voices. Tall, Dark, and Lonely is not for diehard paranormal romance fans; still, listeners looking for a lot of passion and a little vampire may just pull an all-nighter to finish this audiobook.

Bloodlust

Pyte Detective Ephraim Williams appreciates peace and quiet after his torturous beginning. He thought he had found it until his landlady's disfunctional family come to stay. When he gets a whiff of Madison, the oldest granddaughter's blood for the first time in centuries he finds himself fighting bloodlust.

Just when he thought things couldn't get worse an old enemy returns determined to take his blood. An enemy who will let nothing and no one stand in her way. Not Ephraim, not the new family he cares about and not the woman he has fallen for. The woman who could be his mate.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this entertaining new take on a Vampire love story. There are some seriously sexy scenes as well as graphic violence so this book is not for the fainthearted.

Oh Madison!

I am over halfway through this book and it has such promise. I love Ephram! He’s hot and a bad azz Pyte! What he sees in Madison is beyond me.. she grates in my last nerve. Argues over the silliest things, high-strung and immature. I love grandma!! I do think this is
a promising series. I just wish Madison was more mature. Oh! And if I hear Ephrams goods being described as a “member” one more time!! For the love of God, nothing takes you out of the story and moment quicker during a love scene to hear about a “member”. What is this, a 1970’s Harlequin Romance novel?? Lol

Good

The story was really engaging but I gave it 4 stars for a few Cheesy lines and a few repeated phrases that should be edited out. (I read a lot so I’m being picky)
If you like steamy vampire stories with a good plot and can ignore a few cheesy lines, give this one a chance. I recommend it and will be reading the next in the series.

Amazing storyline!

I am completely in love with Ephraim and his story. I can identify with Madison as the Mamabear protecting her family. I can re read this book over and over.

loved this but couldn't finish the second one the

loved this story. great characters, lovely interaction, highly recommend. I couldn't finish the second in the series. Chris wasn't the same lovable character at all (knuckle dragging, me Tarzan you Jane) and Izzy was so stupid (came off like a real bimbo) it was hard to see her as a world class computer hacker.

Where to start

I have listened to this series a minimum of 3 times. (can't believe I haven't left a review!) It's a new take on vampires that is simply brilliant. Stella Bloom is one of my favorite narrators who is simply amazing and so talented. The only thing I struggled with was how long the prologue was, but even then it didn't feel like just an information dump. I love that it's a full length story and that it keeps moving as you go, not just stalling for chapters at a time. I have seen a lot of reviews on this book that take offense to the welfare mom and stigma of her not caring. I was a teenage mother (pregnant at 15) and on welfare for a few years and received foodstamps for at least a decade and if I am not offended by how her mom is portrayed then everyone else can back off. I have met women like that, women who use their kids as a paycheck and take advantage of the older child to watch the littles. It's a reality that does truly happen and I do not feel like RL Matthewson is painting all in this light. Anyways, I absolutely recommend reading this book and be prepared to fall in love with the whole series!
