About this listen

Crossing the border into love.

Snap decisions and misguided ideas bring Portuguese national Mateus Fontes and businessman Crawford Hargrave together at the Canadian border crossing.

Mateus is caught in a catch-22. With his almost-expired tourist visa, entrance to Canada is denied, but the US won't let him back in either. Crawford thinks he's solved things when he tells the border agent they're engaged, and it works - except now they have to actually get married before either of them can get back into the United States. But Crawford has been burned by marriage once, and he's determined not to make that mistake again.

Neither of them expects real feelings to bloom out of their fake marriage, but they do. And the two of them have to learn how to be honest with each other to make things work, which is especially hard when their entire marriage is based on lies.

Would you consider the audio edition of Tall, Dark, and Deported to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version but I liked the accent of Mateas that Dorian Bane gave.

What other book might you compare Tall, Dark, and Deported to and why?

I think it compares to most of the Dreamspun Desires. They are all on the sweet fluffy side.

What does Dorian Bane bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voices. Especially Mateas accent. He also brings life to the story as always.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, not really I enjoyed the entire story though.

Any additional comments?

Tall Dark and Deported is seriously sweet and fluffy so if you like romance that sparkles you really should read this.
Mateus is going to Vancouver when the flights are delayed he meets a Businessman Crawford. They bond right away and when Mateus runs into issues with his green card Crawford steps up and says they are engaged to keep him from getting sent to jail.
I loved that Crawford was such a stand-up guy to help out Mateus, but I think I loved Mateus more ( yeah I like them tall dark and handsome with an accent.
The story is fun, faced paced and one that lets you escape reality and just enjoy.

Sweet and fluffy

Crawford was dedicated to his job. Meeting and spending time with Mateus made him realize how George and Davis were taking advantage.

The book dragged for me at about the 3/4 point, but picked up again towards the end.

Crawford lets go
