About this listen

A full-length standalone romantic comedy from USA Today best-selling author R.S. Grey.

Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot.

When I show up on the doorstep of Blue Stone Ranch, I’m run-down and rockin’ my last pair of underwear. I’m hoping for a savior, but instead, I find him.

My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill. To him, I’m more trouble than I’m worth.

Our button-pushing banter should get under my skin. His arrogance should be a major turn-off. Problem is, devils are known to offer their own form of temptation.

Every one of his steely glares sends a shiver down my spine.

Every steamy encounter leaves me reeling.

Sure, it could be the Texas heat messing with my head, but there’s no way I’ll survive the summer without silencing him with a kiss and wrestling him out of those Wranglers.

Who knows...going to bed with the devil might just be the salvation I’ve been looking for all along.

Pretty good book. Almost YA though. Still funny.

I LOVED the first 75-80 percent of this book! it was funny, well presented and the character development and storyline was AMAZING!!! buuut, about the 78% mark the book wrapped up without spice and then dragged on to the conclusion. Honestly the spicy scene (yep 1.3 spicy scenes total) really could have just been included in the epilogue because everything was wrapped up and done before that even came close to happening and then this would 100% have been a YA book. I love spice and I love romance, and I looove slow burn books, but man, this was too YA for my preference, and I would love to have seen more spice because there were so many opportunities, but maybe the author just wanted a cleaner book- to each their own, no judgement from me. I was confused and kind of skipped through the spicy scene by the end of it because it all felt so rushed and it seems like if the book were longer to give more content to the rest of the plot, the spice probably would have been more naturally included. Definitely fizzled out weirdly for me. This author is bomb though, I'll definitely keep reading all her books! Also, the narrators were deliciously perfect! P.s. Aiden Snow is one of my favorite narrators, so 100% worth the read regardless of the teen vs. adult book content lol

Great story!

I’m really enjoying R.S. Greys stories and this one might be my favorite so far. The story and characters are great. I also love the setting between the ranch, small town, and her shack. The female narrator sounded a bit older than the character at times but otherwise it was great!

Love this story

This book was a great read so I decided to try the audiobook. The male narrator is pretty good but the female narrator had a terrible pitch to her voice that was giving me a headache :(

AMAZING

I thought this book was so funny! Edith was funny as hell, probably my favorite character honestly. Some parts were predictable, but I absolutely loved it!

Great Story

Emotionally connected to the heroine. However the end was rushed. I wanted more from the sister relationship. Try not to throw everything into the epilogue. Still a good read.

Super Cute

I love Grey's writing. It's cheeky but full of substance at the same time. This one is no different. I was surprised to see that somehow this novel had been out for a year and a half before I picked it up. I'm not sure how I missed it!

Jack is stubborn, driven, and somewhat judgmental. He's definitely one who doesn't let many people in. Meredith is sassy, quick-tongued, and carrying a burden from her marriage that she's trying to shed. She doesn't have much family, and even those she does have don't know the real Meredith.

From the arguments that Jack and Meredith have, to Meredith's quirks, and how Jack falls quickly for her, this story will being lots of smiles, laughs, and joy to the reader.

Aiden Snow and Carly Robins did a fantastic job narrating this story.

sweet story

It's review time 🎧

Narrator score🎧 ; both of the narrator's were very very good I like the voices a lot

Level of steam🔥: it's a slow burn so it took time until the couple got to the steamy parts but when they did it was very hot

Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢: the book isn't a sad book at all not in my opinion at least

The book itself📖: it was an adorable sweet comedy that I liked a lot the story was light and very sweet

Loved this book

RS Grey is one of my favorite authors. It’s a sweet slow burn romance but she provides a good back story for the characters. The narrators were amazing!

Chapter 25!!

One thing I can always count on with R.S. Grey is a good, fun solid romance. I’m never worried I will not like it, I’m never worried I’ll be an emotional disaster. She writes the best rom coms. She is one of my go to authors when I need a feel good book. This is up there with one of my all time favorite books of hers. I loved the broody cowboy and the uppity city girl aspect.
I adored that they addressed emotional/verbal abuse as true abuse. It’s also one of the easiest abuses to hide. Which makes it even scarier. Words can change a person. It was wonderful to get to see Meredith grow back into the woman she was. She takes on jobs and lives in places you could never get me to. She is tough as nails for that alone.
Now Jack. Oh Jack, Jack, Jack. Sweet lord I need a cowboy in my life after this book. I usually don’t like cowboy books. But Aiden Snow melted my cold dirty heart. He also scorched my panties off. I liked he before, but after listening to him read chapter 25 I think I may be in love. That gravelly voice did things to me. It gave me goosebumps all over. Holy moly. I need more of this in my life.
So if you want a country boy in your life this is the one to listen to.
