This was the fifth book I have read by Bryce Cortenay. The Potato Factory trilogy really got me hooked. I put off listening for almost a year, but after listening to Shantaram, also narrated by Bowers, I went ahead and took the plunge. The combination of Cortenay and Bowers is simply unbeatable. The Power of One was really good, but the follow up, Tandia was greatness all the way up the last line. I highly recommend this book...you won't be disappointed

Quite possibly one of the best books ever!!!

Bryce Courtenay is one of my new favorite authors. He has excellent descriptions of his charactors and Humphry Bower is simply the best narrator I have ever heard. His range of charactor voices is unmatched.

The story of Peekay continues

I loved Power of One and was disappointed when it ended. I was hapy to learn that the story continued. Although not quite as good, i enjoyed this book very much. Sames talented narrator. I could listen to him forever.

a good listen

What did you like best about this story?

A great story while explaining the time and context of South African history. The boxing matches were enthralling.

Have you listened to any of Humphrey Bower’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to Humphrey Bower before but I'd be happy to listen again. I am an Australian living in South Africa, so his voice was very easy for me to listen to! His timing, accents and voices were very good.

Great entertainment

I really enjoyed the book. Humphrey Bower is an excellent narrator, but the story doesn't' quite have the magic of The Power of One. Maybe that's appropriate considering the history of South Africa following the events of the first book, but I found the ending to be a little too neat and somewhat trite, with none of the humor and irony present in the first book. still a good novel and worth the listen.

A decent sequel

This man is truly a gifted writer. His understanding of the human plight and man is astounding. Find the true endeavour and struggke of man in this amazing work.

What an amazing book.

This is the third book of Courtenay's I've listened to and he's the best story teller I've ever encountered. But the graphic descriptions of boxing matches are too violent for me. If that doesn't bother you, you'll love it.

Great story teller, but graphic violoence
