Story
Taoist living rests on four pillars: the public, the domestic, the private, and the spirit lives. Not only do Taoists strive to live these four aspects fully and in a balanced way, they also believe there is an outlook and an art to each of them. Eva Wong uses the teachings of Taoist masters themselves to explain the essential concepts. She then gives voice to these texts - simplifying them, removing barriers to understanding, and making them completely accessible and relevant to the modern reader.

Story
A collection of Taoist visualizations seldom taught outside China. This ancient system uses traditional Taoist imagery to build self-awareness, unity of mind and body, and - ultimately - enlightenment. While healing with imagery is relatively new to the West, its use in China dates back to Taoist texts from the third century B.C.E. These healing techniques induce an "alpha-theta" state, where the unconscious comes to consciousness, and the mind reaches a blissful clarity.

Story
Tao has been built into the foundation of East Asian culture for millennia, and many books have been written to explain it. But Tao cannot fully be explained in words; it can only felt and experienced. Tao is something you live, day by day, moment by moment. It's the omnipresent oneness beyond ephemeral phenomena that expresses itself in everything.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

It's the omnipresent oneness beyond ephemeral phenomena that expresses itself in everything.

introduction only
It is well written and uncomplicated. The one thing that is not pleasant is that he includes a long and 'real time' meditation walk through at the end of nearly every chapter. this makes it unpleasant if you feel like listening to the information and insights without sitting through a 15 words in ten min. slow meditation. On the other hand the meditations are very effective since they make you want to sleep.

Ken Cohen is brilliant
This is a very good introduction to Taoism.
Ken Cohen mentions a "study guide" but Audible has not supplied one unfortunatly..
It would be perfect if they did. This is why I only give 3 stars

Excellent book on Taoism
What made the experience of listening to Taoism the most enjoyable?
Narrated by the author and very interesting.
Any additional comments?
The drawback with this book is that it is meant to be used with a workbook that is not available.

Confirms, reinforces and enriches
I thought I knew a good deal about Taoism already. This book confirmed what I knew but also enriched it. The references to the study guide were mildly frustrating at times but Kenneth Cohen's reading was very accessible. Good for beginning and moderately experienced audiences.

Very informative and well read
This is an excellent explanation of Taoism and how it relates to and is differentiated ffrom the teachings of Confucius and Buddha . A good book for beginners .
Ken Cohen's narration was so good. It was a pleasure to listen to him even when he spoke Chinese. I highly recommend this book too anyone who wants to know what Taoism is about.

Wonderful teaching!
Mr. Cohen has done a wonderful job of not only explaining Taoism, and it's history, but how it's philosophic view has always and will always relate to the world, and how learning about it and practicing it will enhance one's life. He also talks about health and even Feng Shui from the Taoist viewpoint. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Eastern Philosophy.

History of The Tao
Cohen does a good job of laying out the relationship of The Tao to Buddhism & Confucianism in the early pages.
Once he begins teaching a Course in the more obscure teachings of Taoism Rituals and Practices I became less interested. My devotion to The Tao is based on its Philosophy, not its Science, Medicine or Magic so I can only give this book Three Stars. ***
