Publisher's summary

Twenty-one-year-old Skye Willis lives in Eufaula, Alabama, a tourist mecca of stately homes and world-class bass fishing. Her childhood friends are either stuck at dead ends or have moved on to accomplish Big Things.

Skye's grandmother, Verna, insists on being called "Sparrow" because she suspects her ancestors were Muscogee Creek. She dresses in faux deerskin, offering a myth or legend to anyone who will listen.

Skye has no idea what to do with her life. She's smart as hell, but she has no faith or knowledge there's something out there she was "born to do." Nor does she know much of anything about her father, who died in Afghanistan when she was a toddler. He and his family are a mystery her mother won't discuss.

But when Sparrow sets out to confirm her Creek ancestry through genetic testing, Skye joins in. The results hit like a DNA bomb, launching them both on a path filled with surprises and life-changing events. Skye learns a harder truth than she ever expected.

Alternating chapters between Skye's Alabama life and an intertwining tale of greed, deceit, and control in Texas, this story offers proof that all life is a woven tapestry of past, present, and future.

Interesting story

Enjoyed the book, not the reader. Sorry if I hurt the reader’s feelings. Feel bad.

Book Club Favorite

Some of our book group members thought that Tapestry started off choppy
as various characters were introduced. Personally, I had no complaints about
the first part of the book. We all really enjoyed the book very much, because of
interesting characters and vivid imagery . We all wanted a grandmother like
Sparrow! The plot was fresh.

The book will appeal to women of all ages.

Had a hard time with the narration.

The story itself was enjoyable but not sure why the narrator had to purse her lips & draw out the last word of *every* sentence- almost as if she was communicating displeasure about whatever she read- it was REALLY noticeable & inappropriate. Not sure if it was a garbled attempt to fake a southern accent, but it didn’t come across as that, it was just annoying.

Poorly written, poorly performed

Read this for a book club. Started listening to it, as I do many of my books, but couldn't stand the narrator. She wasn't believable and cheapened the overall tone of the book. The story itself was poorly constructed, as if the author wanted to shove in as many surprises, "shocks," and heartstring-pulling moments as possible, while also touching on deep historical and racial issues that she did not develop. It all felt very hodge podge and immature in terms of her level of writing. I haven't read anything else by this author, so I can't comment on her work overall, but this particular book is not worth your time.
