About this listen

Welcome to horror happy hour....

Two greedy brothers receive a chilling surprise when they try to take advantage of a homeless man. Something in the backyard wrecks vengeance when burglars break into a family's secluded home. And poker night takes a different turn when one of the players fall victim to murder….

Have a seat, warm yourself by the fire, and enjoy a drink at Hannigan’s, the tavern of a thousand tales. This sinister collection presents 12 brand new bone-chilling tales, each one guaranteed to send a shiver down your spine.

But why stop with just one? When the sun goes down, the Hannigan’s happy hour begins. Two screams for the price of one. Or is it three? Maybe four?

For this ghoulish crowd, the thirst for fear is never-ending. And when it comes to shrieks of terror on this cold winter night, well, you know what they say.

The more, the merrier….

Volume5

I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and I'm willingly doing so now. Volume 5 has so many great authors with each story you just get wrapped up in the book. what I love is how it just keeps your mind running and your heart racing. To try to pick just one story out of this book is virtually impossible because ALL of them had you looking over your shoulder. Thom is one of my favorite narrators hee just brings each character alive. great book loved it and recommend it very highly.

Not for the easily frightened

Wow, when you get ahold of something exceptional you find yourself wanting to tell everyone what they are missing, while also hoping to make a new book friend. This book, this series is the perfect launch pad for that. Everyone should get to experience writing and story telling at its best. You find that here in spades. Pull up a chair, grab you fuzzy comfort cover and prepare to be awed.

Good Diverse Shorts

I absolutely loved this book, visit Hannigan’s the tavern and meet Hannigan himself , It has some great creepy/scary shorts and good authors and loved all 12 but have to admit my favorite was Easy Money, and there is something for everyone. Recommend if you enjoy short creepy/scary stories with good narration.

One of the best collections I've read.

I love these. First if you are a fan of the old tv shows like The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits or my personal favorite Tales from the Darkside, you will certainly enjoy these stories. Thom Bowers always delivers a spellbinding performance. I think I could listen to him read the phone book.

“A True Scream is that of Hopeless Dread”-Ian Fortey

These compilations of short stories are truly just fun reads, and while I thought Tavern of Terror, Vol. 4 was great, I am of the opinion that I found this one a even more enjoyable than the last.

As I stated in a previous review, these tales remind me a lot of Tales from the Crypt. I am going to say that I was “delighted” on the definition of what a “true scream” is and what it isn’t. I found the process of defining it quite astute and used one of many descriptive sentences from Ian Fortey’s story.

While all the stories were good, the one that I found the most interesting was by Simon Cluett (author of Minotaur). It was about a poker game, a curse, and let’s just say a little American history during the Wild West that wasn’t exactly glamorized.

Book reviews of short stories, in my opinion, can be quite subjective. Each author has a different writing style, and while subject matter may have a general theme, the nature and mood can be radically different. So while I give this anthology a 5-star review across the board, others may not find the stories as compelling and rate them as high. I suggest listen to them with an open mind. These stories are meant to be engaging and in good fun.So try and keep the inner critic at bay and read for yourself. You will be glad you did.

Don't Turn Out The Lights!

Oh good gracious! These stories keep getting better and better! I may say that about all these anthologies, but the books seriously leave me wanting more! I could not wait to sit down with this one, and it was over before I was ready!

These stories will keep you on the edge of your seat, and you will not want to read these in the dark! Fabulously done, and the narrator as always does a fantastic job.

Bring on Tavern of Terror vol 6!!!
