Publisher's summary

The survivors of the Monktree, Wyoming Motorcycle Rally find themselves stuck in an entirely new world. With no signs of help headed their way, our survivors decide to head to the nearest town, Casper, Wyoming. Only trouble is, Casper is in worse condition than Monktree, and the walking dead aren’t the only danger they have to be wary of.

Love the concept….

I love the idea of the story following normal everyday untrained people, however, I dislike that common sense always seems to rear its head continuously. Anytime there’s a chance for someone to make a mistake, we can count on it happening. I love the interactions and how the relationships emerge based on the characters being thrust together in desperate times. Reminds me of a Netflix show called Black Summer (wish there was a 2nd season). Despite my gripes, I did/do enjoy the series and am rooting for Jiyamma and Taro. I knew the cop wasn’t going to last from the start, he definitely didnt have the necessary apocalyptic demeanor to survive in such a world. Anyhow, hopefully there are follow ups….

I was at the edge of my seat

It was interesting and tragic! A lot of cursing, graphic, and intense. I cringed a lot. I feel like he has another story in these series!

Everyone is selfish

I have listened to all the previous books and as a father of a young child this one bothered me left me feeling completely depressed at the end. if the author wanted to remind us that thier are no good people in this world he did a great job.

Sadly, it’s time to say, “goodbye Rotten World”..

I was an avid fan of the first five entries into this series. Fantastic story, great characters/development, gruesome world…zombie jackpot!
I was excited to see two more entries into the Rotten World universe after taking a break from audiobooks for a bit. I made it through book six and about 45 minutes into “Tempered”…and I am unfortunately, and sadly, done with Jacy’s offerings.

Yet another author harvesting the low hanging and divisive fruit of “white people are all bigots”, “men are all sexist, misogynistic pigs”, “white men are the sum total of all evil”. It is getting SO tired. This horse isn’t just dead from flogging, it has been needlessly and mercilessly ground into the pavement until pulp.
These tripe tropes are ham-handedly slammed into the listeners face chapter after chapter with the grace and subtlety of mountain top removal mining.
The hypocrisy of having racist/sexist, drug-dealing, murdering, thieving outlaw biker characters complain CONSTANTLY about racism and sexism is beyond numbing…it’s infuriatingly insulting.

This isn’t high-minded social commentary, it’s churlish and fractious mud slinging…and it is as needless as it is relentless.

On the plus side: another great performance by narrator T.L. Howell!
