LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. Beat the grind and submerse yourself in these addictive LitRPGs.

SPOILER ALERT

System Apocalypse ahead.

I was gifted this book through Atheon Audio for responding to a Reddit post.

That being said, this is a straightforward review.

Being in the 'System Apocalypse' genre of LitRPG, the book adheres to the basics prescribed. Nothing unique really, outside of skills and bloodlines. etc.

World building is essentially suspended due this first area being a tutorial. Which means it's an experience grind and I do mean a grind.

Humorless, like a job at KFC or any fast food joint where everyone has quit except you, this book doesn't have a single light moment in it. Just the grind.

I can't really offer a positive or negative review bc it's just so utterly predictable in all ways. If you've read a System Apocalypse book before, NOTHING in this will surprise or delight you.

Another OP MC grinding their way to the top of the chain just to survive their nemesis who is doing the same.

B+ for me

I just want to give an honest review. This book was just ok. I didn't think it was great though. I think that there was just to much going on and it didn't end well.
***spoilers***
the explanation of him was super weird. They say he is a person who loves challenges. He just wants more and more challenges, but then he seemed super soft when telling about his background story. It was kind of weird.
Caroline was a waste to be honest. I have no idea why she was even a side character. LOL.
Jakob is cool. Even though I think he was not strong, he at least made sense to me. Even Richard made sense to me. What happened to William at the end? The class structure and race structured systems are no helpful at all. Only good thing is the blood line. I like that. I liked the snake god as well. he was cool
That is enough spoilers for now. The book will have another part in the series which is good, but I still don't see the wow factor. I can wait on the next book, but I have no excitement right now about it. Thanks

An interesting book but it brings nothing new.

While the book is a good one it brings nothing new too the genre. In fact it's very typical litrpg. I give it 3.5 stars because it was good enough for me to finish it and want to listen to the next one. The reason it doesn't get more is that it's lacking in interesting magic systems it's all basic tropes. The combat is very generic and the world building is none existent. All in all you want to listen to a moderately interesting litrpg book with nothing that really stands out. No amazing main character, no great super interesting side characters. Well then I recommend this book. I wasn't super impressed by it honestly. But I still feel that it was worth the credit.

loved it.

Great character building and story line. world building is great along with great foreshadowing to help see where the story is going. Only real complaint is that the book gets cut off short leaving you kinda hanging there. Can't wait for the next book.

Nice story

Well written and the lead person is developed well. The length does not drag on just right

Review

Really enjoyed this audiobook great performance great story. It takes a little bit of its purpose from books like, he who fights with monsters, The 10th realm, First Defier and The legend of Randidly Ghosthound Which are all great audiobooks on the market right now. The only issue I have is about 25-30% of the audiobook that went into crafting, I do enjoy crafting, but you can’t make it such a large percentage of your audiobook.

A great story if ya got the time.

In the beginning it has a sort of 'cringy' feel as the main character changes from a quiet introvert to a lone hunter. With the story having a, now common trope, of being taken away to a different place, I highly recommend if you want a new story that follows the stereotypical flow. As a character fights beast and men alike, trying to survive in this unknown place called the tutorial.

Looking forward to the second book

i throughly enjoyed the book. I did how ever find the multiple reiterations of the stats and there levels to be a bit much. i however do very much look forward to more works from this author and am glad to have had this be my first audio book experience.

Amazing Book

Exceptional story line and well plotted! Very descriptive, to the point of being able to picture everything that is happening!
