Publisher's summary
Full of blunt humor, travel wisdom, and the occasional swear word, The Solo Girl’s Travel Guide combines travel instruction with travel inspiration for the only “can’t put this book down” travel guide on the market. Following a similar layout and format to Lonely Planet, The Solo Girl’s Travel Guide is a comprehensive travel guidebook in every sense but is filled with female-friendly content that makes trip-planning fun and approachable (while steering women clear of scams, creeps, and sketchy locations). Think Lonely Planet meets Eat, Pray, Love meets You Are a Badass - The Solo Girl’s Travel Guide (SGTG) is the only travel guidebook series giving women the confidence and resources to travel the world solo.

Story
For many outsiders, Thailand still conjures up images of the East at its most mysterious and enchanting - a view largely formed by Hollywood films like The King and I. Never conquered by foreigners, this proud and ancient land has been shaped by Buddhism, the monarchy, and the military. Today, it is ranked among the tiger economies of Southeast Asia. It is a manufacturing powerhouse, the world’s largest rice exporter, and a tourist paradise that welcomes 22 million visitors a year to its beach resorts and its vibrant capital, Bangkok.

The “mountain men” were the hunters and trappers who fiercely strode the Rocky Mountains in the early to mid-1800s. They braved the elements in search of the skins of beavers and other wild animals, to sell or barter for goods. The lifestyle of the mountain men could be harsh, existing as they did among animals, and spending most of their days and nights living and camping out in the great unexplored wilds of the Rockies.

Fantastic travel guide!! Don’t overlook this book!
I’ve been dreaming of Thailand for 20 years and this “girlfriend’s guide” is just what I needed! No more telling myself “one day before I’m too old I want to visit Thailand” because Alexa West has just lit a fire under my (achem) feet! I’m giving myself 1 year from today to have my trip fully BOOKED! Thank you Alexa! There is so much information in this book and you have taken all of the guesswork out of EVERYTHING from where to stay, what to pack, who to avoid, and even HOW to avoid being a thoughtless tourist. I listened on Audible but you better believe I’m purchasing this book to reread and study as reference! I can’t wait to check out your website!

this book it is chock-full of good information
love this book so much so I'm going to buy the hardcover. I am locating to Thailand in 2023 to retire. after listening to this book I realize the places that I want to visit. the hotels I would like to to stay in. the places to take trains overnight and just enjoy the train ride . this book is such a wealth of the writers knowledge, experience, and her plethora of wisdom. it was just a easy happy thoughtful evaluation of where to go, how to be safe, how to have a good time, and be a woman doing it. thank you so much for this book. I enjoyed it and we'll use it in the years to come.

Great book but careless recording
The book itself is full of great information for women traveling to Thailand, It is broken down into easily digestible sections with lots of handy tips.
The recording however was very disappointing! They did not pay attention when editing.
The narrator read the words clearly, with a friendly, casual voice but there were multiple repeats of partial and/or full sentences.
At first I thought it was one or two mistakes, but it kept happening throughout the entire book and became very annoying. It was like listening to a record that kept skipping. I will avoid books read by this narrator in the future.
I do like this author though and will continue to look to her for essential and useful travel advice.
