About this listen

First published in 1884, Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is among the first novels in American literature to be written throughout in vernacular English. Some have called it the first Great American Novel, and the book has become required reading in many schools throughout the United States.

The story is set along the Mississippi River in Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky and Arkansas around 1840. It depicts the development of Huckleberry (Huck) Finn, a boy about thirteen years old. Huck has to find a way between his belief in the right thing to do and what most do believe to be wrong.

Great classic

It’s a classic for a reason. Love the wittiness and imagination of this boy. So cute how he ties the story together.

Important for embracing history

Combine this read with Percival Everett’s “James”. The complete adventure. We are completing our American character. A double irony one might say.

It’s all great

The story, ofcourse, is a classic and I’ve read it twice before in my life, but this time, as an audio book, I enjoyed it on a whole new level because of the outstanding narration. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be looking for other books with the same narrator.

Was the same story but different perspective with the new book “James” which I listened to first.

The narrator and the Southern dialect used for realism that added to the impact of the book.
