About this listen

Trevor White reads Mark Twain's classic tale about friendship and adventure along the mighty Mississippi River. This tells the story of Huck Finn and his companion, the slave Jim, as they journey down the Mississippi River after running away from Huck's drunken father and Jim's owners. The fugitives team up and have many adventures together. As they travel, they encounter a floating house, a dead man and a pair of con artists called the King and the Duke.

Huck gets to know Jim and regards him as a friend and equal. When Jim is recaptured, Huck is determined to rescue him - but to do that, he needs the help of his old partner, Tom Sawyer...The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a story about growing up and finding freedom.

One hour adventure with Huck

Great synopsis of the book told by a wonderful storyteller. One hour well-spent. Can’t wait to listen to Elijah Wood’s full (10 hour) version now.

I liked “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”more.

I personally didn’t like the perspective on Huckleberry Finn as much as I did on The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and the way that the narrator, Trevor White, puts the story really makes a difference on how you imagine the story itself. And for me, the conclusion of the story doesn’t seem to actually conclude it. It seems like Mark Twain should have made another sequel. But the overall story was great!

Way too short.

I wish it had been longer because it was fun to go along with the adventures.

Good ‘Ole Huck!

Mark Twain’s classic character is wonderfully brought to life in this theatrical reading. A quick walk through memory lane of reading this as a kid.

Abridged

Abridged version of an 11 hour book?!?! This book was written for boys who are about to become young men, do we REALLY need an abridged version?? Just read the Wikipedia if you’re in such a great hurry you can’t listen to a delightful 11 hour tale. The narrator did well though
