About this listen

Murray Rothbard was known as the state's greatest living enemy, and this audiobook is his most powerful statement on the topic. He explains what a state is and what it is not. He shows how it is an institution that violates all that we hold as honest and moral, and how it operates under a false cover. He shows how the state wrecks freedom, destroys civilization, and threatens all lives and property and social well-being, all under the veneer of "good intentions".

It's Rothbard

Clipped audio at chapter ends but tolerable for the quality content. A quick listen for your commute

Great book, alright narrator.

Murray Rothbard’s most famous book does a wonderful job explaining what the state is, and what it isn’t. It’s a must for anyone who is interested in anarchism.

However, I am not a huge fan of the narrator and the editing can be abrupt between chapters.

Worth it for the short time.

Well voiced and a wonderful piece by the author. Even though short, I find it well worth it for the contents.

A good long essay on the nature of state power

I would like to see more depth of detail, but considering the length the content is relevant. I will look up more of Rothbards writings to get what I look for in his work.

A worthwhile read

People complaining about the editing are correct in that it is jarring, but are incorrect in that there is no content lost except for maybe the last half syllable of the last word of each paragraph. I have checked it against a physical copy of the book and there are no missing sections.
