About this listen

The Animal Dialogues tells of Craig Childs' own chilling experiences among the grizzlies of the Arctic, sharks off the coast of British Columbia and in the turquoise waters of Central America, jaguars in the bush of northern Mexico, mountain lions, elk, Bighorn Sheep, and others. More than chilling, however, these stories are lyrical, enchanting, and reach beyond what one commonly assumes an "animal story" is or should be. The Animal Dialogues is a book about another world that exists alongside our own, an entire realm of languages and interactions that humans rarely get the chance to witness.

Fascinating, beautifully written

This audio book was an absolute pleasure. The many stories Craig tells reveal the inner lives of some of Earth’s most fascinating creatures and the author’s experiences with them. If you love learning about the intricate details of animals’ lives and are drawn to exquisite, indeed brilliant, writing this book will prove to be one of the greatest gifts you ever bestow on yourself.

electric story telling

Enter the world of animals. Respect for their beingness and nowness is paramount. It's an important state of being that the author has mastered. A place we should all be more familiar with.

Another excellent listening experience!

This is my third Craig Childs’ book and I loved it! He’s a gifted writer and narrator. I have read some reviews that describe his style as monotonous, but I couldn’t disagree more. His soothing, poetic prose is both vividly descriptive and constantly, patiently driven. His style reminds me of what it is like to hike through the desert. I have yet to be disappointed by one of his books! Highly recommend.

LOVED this book!

Learned so much and loved the author’s poetic descriptions of the animals and their surroundings. Found the narrator a little monotone at times, but not distracting. Highly recommend for lovers of nature .

Craig Childs, an honorable member of Animalia

Mr. Childs is a deep thinking and feeling Homo sapien who delivers a compelling view into the natural world and its inhabitants.

Again, inspirational!

There is an unspoken dialog between the wild creatures and us…if we could only, stop, dial down, and listen. Thank you, Craig, for my vicarious journey with you!

Loved it

Beautiful, gut wrenching, soulful, inspiring. I loved this. I hope everyone who reads or listens will come away with greater love and respect for the nonhuman world.
