Publisher's summary

A lost world. An ancient code. A deadly chase.

Five ancient statues have been unearthed in South America, each containing a mysterious coded message hinting at an origin many thought impossible: the mythical world of Atlantis. As word of their discovery spreads, the prized figurines become a treasure bounty hunters will kill for.

CIA agent Heidi Moneymaker calls in the only team for the job: Guy Bodie and his posse of relic-hunting thieves. If they are to find the ancient civilization, Bodie and his team must decode a series of clues - starting with the cipher on the statues themselves - that will take them across the world and to the deepest depths of the ocean. But they are not alone in their mission.

Pursued by mysterious forces intent on keeping the legendary empire hidden, hunted by Chinese special forces and the relic hunters’ lethal foe, the Bratva, the team races to find the lost land - and Bodie’s enemies will stop at nothing to be the first to discover Atlantis’s secrets.

Formulaic

Just a clarification about what the first 2 Relic Hunter books are and are not:

IS NOT Davinci Code; no clever puzzles, historic depth, or edge-of-your-seat suspense.

IS NOT realistic. Examples include an objectified attractive female "street fighter" cum actress (heck, all the females are objectified stereotypes), impossible underwater waterfalls, factual misses in scuba technology, safecracking, and cyber security.

IS an action romp with most of the story dedicated either to blow-by-blow fighting or sentimental feel-good warm fuzzies about a family of altruistic theives.

Will probably make a smash of an action movie.

Fast Paced!

I love this crew and their inevitable skill to find trouble. This time it seems to be just abit to much.

This narrator is amazing!!!!!

Love the book too.

Some narrators make it hard to get into the boom even tho the boom is amazing. Pete Simonelli is one of the best narrators I’ve listened too. I hope he has been able to narrate a lot of great books as I will be looking for him.
This book and Relic Hunters, the one previous in the series, are great. I can’t wait for the next one to come out as well. I do hope Pete is narrating it as well.

enjoyably average

Delivers what you would expect from a book of this type. All the typical tropes are here but they don't feel stale. Looking forward to the next one.

Fight Scenes

Impossible to believe. Leading male seems to whimp out when needed most. Usually saved by an impossible to believe female.

a good continuation of the relic hunter series. New character could develop into an interesting addition.

Good story but the accents kill me

British characters with on again off again accents. Some weird cross between cockney, welsh, northern irish & upper lip london… with a hint of elvis pressley? oh, and the dainty austrailian russians? Just hard especially considering its mostly written in american english

Thrilling adventure

If you like a decent treasure hunt based on a mix of myth and some historical elements you’ll like this book. Downloaded it on a recommendation but hadn’t listened to the other two in the series yet; you don’t need the first book to understand the nature of the character histories so it works as a standalone but I definitely want to pick up the other two.
