About this listen
This is the story of a battle that changed the course of the Civil War and called upon two men—Robert E. Lee and Abraham Lincoln—to summon every ounce of their courage, intelligence, and bravery. The Battle of Gettysburg is known as one of the defining moments of the American Civil War. It was the bloodiest battle of this conflict, resulting in over 50,000 combined casualties over three fierce days. In early July 1863, two great armies converged at the small town of Gettysburg. The aim was seemingly simple: General Lee sought to gain leverage in the North and bring relief to war-torn Virginia by obtaining the bounty of the rich, Northern farms. Lee thought he had it all… after all, he was in command of an “invincible army” that had just claimed a stunning victory in the Battle of Chancellorsville.
Except he wasn’t counting on the immense military strength or brilliance of the Union… or the deadly result of his choice to attack the Union’s central line on Cemetery Ridge. This decision may seem like just a high-risk strategy gone wrong… but it was so much more than that… it was the result of a staunch belief in the power of offense, the immense confidence in his army, and the burning desire for a decisive blow. Lincoln, meanwhile, was cool, calm, and every inch in command. His timely decisions included the appointment of the clever Major General George Meade following the loss of confidence in his predecessor. This book goes beyond military strategy and searing ambition… it delves into the minds and hearts of great leaders who would do anything to defend what they believed in.

Story
Lyndon Baines Johnson was a man of great ambition and enormous greed, both of which, in 1963, would threaten to destroy him. In the end, President Johnson would use power from his personal connections in Texas and from the underworld and from the government to escape an untimely end in politics and to seize even greater power. President Johnson, the thirty-sixth president of the United States, was the driving force behind a conspiracy to murder President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. In The Man Who Killed Kennedy, you will find out how and why he did it. Political consultant, strategist, and Libertarian Roger Stone has gathered documents and used his firsthand knowledge to construct the ultimate tome to prove that LBJ was not only involved in JFK's assassination, but was in fact the mastermind. With 2013 being the fiftieth anniversary of JFK's assassination, this is the perfect time for The Man Who Killed Kennedy to be available to readers. The research and information in this book is unprecedented, and as Roger Stone lived through it, he's the perfect person to bring it to everyone's attention.

Well Paced great Narration
This title was well paced, given the gravity of the material. It was summarized well, and gave a sense of completeness. I enjoyed the pace as well, as historical works can be dense at times this was fantastically composed.

Gettysburg's Turning Point
This audiobook brings the Battle of Gettysburg to life, capturing the courage and decisions of two great leaders, Robert E. Lee and Abraham Lincoln. Through vivid storytelling, you’ll learn how Lee’s confidence in his “invincible army” led him to make a risky move that backfired, while Lincoln’s calm leadership ensured the Union’s success. With over 50,000 casualties, the battle was a turning point in the Civil War, and this audiobook dives deep into the minds of these men, showing how their choices shaped the future of the nation. It's both gripping and informative!

The Decisive Turning Point
The Battle of Gettysburg provides a powerful and concise retelling of one of the most pivotal moments in American history. This book offers a clear, well-researched overview of the three-day battle that became the turning point of the Civil War. It not only delves into the military strategies and tactical decisions of General Robert E. Lee and the Union forces but also highlights the broader impact of the battle on both the North and the South.
What makes this book stand out is its ability to blend the strategic and human elements of the conflict. The author vividly describes the chaos, bravery, and tragedy of the soldiers, while also exploring the consequences of Gettysburg for President Abraham Lincoln’s leadership and the eventual outcome of the war. The aftermath, including Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg Address, is discussed in a way that emphasizes the broader importance of the battle on national unity and democracy.
Despite being detailed, the book remains accessible and engaging for readers of all levels, from history buffs to those new to Civil War studies. The combination of gripping storytelling and historical insight makes it a must-read for anyone interested in understanding how the Battle of Gettysburg shaped the fate of the United States.
Highly recommended for history enthusiasts and anyone looking for a comprehensive yet approachable account of one of the most significant events in American history.
