Sidney Sheldon
About this listen
With the unexpected twists and turns that are the hallmark's of his mega-best-selling novels, Sidney Sheldon spins a tale of two equally determined people headed on a collision course. Oliver has a strategy to win the White House; Leslie has a scheme to make him wish he's never been born. They both should have known that even the best-laid plans can go dangerously astray...with deadly consequences.
The Best Laid Plans takes listeners inside two of America's most powerful and ruthless institutions: the world of politics with it's scandals, corruption, and cover-ups; and that of newspaper publishing, where it is not unusual to use the power of the press to destroy lives - or bring down heads of state - in pursuit of a story or to settle a score.

Story
This is a love story of great beauty and great tenderness, the kind of love story that entangles the listener in the lives of the characters, so that after the story is over, one continues to live with those characters. And fortunately, the listener will not have to say farewell to these characters, since it is the first in a series that will tell the story of three Californian families over the course of the 20th century.

A SIT IN YOUR CAR KIND OF AUDIO BOOK! TEN STARS!
I have had this book on cassette tape for years and loved it sooo much I wanted to convert it to CD, but Instead took an old walk-man and mini speakers to listen to it in the car. When it came out on CD I was thrilled! I have listened to it 3 more times since I downloaded it here.
Also note don't be afraid of the abridged. Nothing (important) is left out. I have had this book for years on tape and now on CD and listening to it all this time.
Ten stars not five!
