About this listen

I hadn’t seen or heard from him in six-years. Until he walked into my office and shattered my world.

Eva:

I had a good life, a meaningful life, full of order and purpose.

The last thing I needed was a stalker ruining it all.

I certainly didn’t need the nuisance of having a bodyguard.

Not in the form of the man who broke my heart six years ago.

Now he’s in my space, in my life, and turning my world upside down.

I fell for him once and it almost destroyed me.

There is no way I’m going to fall for him again.

Sean:

Six years ago, I walked out on the woman I loved to save her.

Now I am back in New York City and she needs my help.

I will do whatever I have to do to keep Eva Moore safe.

Even pushing my own needs and desires for her aside.

Yet, the more I am with her, the more I know I need her in my life.

But she doesn’t want to have anything to do with me.

How far will I have to go to convince her to give me a second chance?

The Billionaire’s Bodyguard is a second chance office romance set in New York City. It has plenty of heat and a guaranteed HEA with no cheating or cliffhangers.

Saving the one you love

This is book 1 of The Billionaire's Trilogy and a standalone story. I liked that the plot is a second chance romance for first loves. Eva has a stalker, and Sean will do anything to keep her safe. The story caught my attention, and I was hooked by chapter 1 and kept my attention until I reached the happy ever after ending.

Eva and Luke

There are only so many spins you can put on a bodyguard/romance story. Overall, this was well done and interesting story. Luke, recently out of the military, becomes a bodyguard in his friend’s business. Turns out his assignment is to guard Eva, who just happens to be his ex, his first love. Who better to guard you then someone that knows you intimately and is not afraid to call you on your sh*tty behavior. Eva is being stalked, and finally gives in to having Luke be her bodyguard. Narration was well done. I received a free copy of the audiobook, and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Second time the charm

The Billionaire’s Bodyguard by MacKenzie Stowe is a second chance office romance. Esther Ashe and FadeByNightVA did a wonderful job with the narration. The story is entertaining, interesting, enjoyable, and fun. Sean walked away from Eva to keep her save. Can Eva forgive Sean? Will she give him a second chance? I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Highly recommend.

Mixed Feelings but Entertaining Enough.

Overall, this book had its moments—it got me through my spring cleaning, after all! There were definitely parts I really liked. The protective MMC was a highlight, and I appreciated that the FMC wasn’t completely falling apart the whole time. She had strength, and I liked that balance.

That said, there were a few things that kept pulling me out of the story. Not quite “ick,” but definitely “why is this here?” vibes. And we need to talk about the accents—because wow. I’m not sure which was more distracting: her questionable NY accent or what I think was meant to be British? Either way, not helping.

Also, the MMC’s refusal to communicate? My dude. You're making it so hard to root for you. Why you left, what’s going on with her stalker—you’re keeping everything to yourself and it's just frustrating. I like you! Don’t make me not like you.

But what really lost me was that third act breakup? It was honestly just ridiculous on both their parts. He totally brought it on himself, but her reaction—threatening to call the cops??—was way over the top. Then they both double down on their dramatic stances and... yeah, no thanks. It was not for me.

In the end, it wasn’t perfect, but it had just enough good to keep me going. Probably wouldn’t reread, but I don’t regret the listen.
