Publisher's summary
Birdie Boucher is a woman who lives her life in the shadows of her infamous mother. A powerful voodoo priestess of the south who uses magic to wreak havoc on the lives of anyone who gets in her way. And any woman she believes is the lover of her philandering husband.
Birdie's mother is more than a danger to others. She proves that she is a danger to her daughter as well, as she snatches her voice one day and places it in a mason jar. Birdie tries to move but is devastated. And when things get worse, Birdie is forced to wield a little magic of her own!
Fast forward 10 years later. Birdie is still living with the stigma of her mother's past. She wants love. She wants to marry and have children. But the local men won't touch her despite her undeniable beauty. They are afraid. Because men who date Birdie Boucher turn up dead!
It isn't long before fate intervenes and deals Birdie a sweet blow. Harlem Ryder seems like the answer to any woman's prayers. He sees Birdie and is immediately smitten only to be warned to stay away. He doesn't. And she can't resist. But she has secrets. He has secrets. And something lurks in the shadows. What will become of Birdie Boucher?
Contains mature themes.

Story
Law grew up in the trenches. Hustling since the age of 12, his focus was making life better for his mother and brother. Finding intimate love was never a priority because he didn’t have many examples of that around him. Instead, he was taught to focus on getting money, not finding the one. Yet upon seeing her, Zuri pulled something out of Law that was foreign to him. Though he had been with his girlfriend, Whitney, for a long, exhausting decade, he had never experienced a woman taking his heart so mercilessly.

Nestled between Little St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island, Salix Pointe is not a place that many people know of. Part of the Golden Isles of Georgia, all the weeping willows that grow there have led the surrounding town’s folk to call it the Island of Death. Elisa and Tasmin may not want to put too much stock into the folklore of Salix Pointe, but there is a reason that the universe has brought the two women together.

Story
Fifteen years ago, I ran away from Whisper Hollow, Washington, a small town on Crescent Lake in the Olympic Peninsula. But truth is, if you were born here, you can never really leave. I'm Kerris Fellwater, and when I returned, I inherited my grandmother's house - and her gift. As a spirit shaman, it's my responsibility to drive the dead back to their graves because around Whisper Hollow, people - and secrets - don't always stay buried.

Story
One night, Molly Clarke walked away from her life. She doesn't want to be found. Or at least, that's the story. The car abandoned miles from home. The note found at a nearby hotel. The shattered family that couldn’t be put back together. They called it a “walk away.” It happens all the time. Women disappear, desperate to leave their lives behind and start over. But is that what really happened to Molly Clarke?

So good
This book is so good and different as are most of Smokey Moments books that I’ve read and loved. The narrator has a strange voice, get past it and listen it’s a great book

I knew it was more to Trip
The story left me wanting more. I was honestly figured out that Trip had been possessed but I was waiting on the big reveal and the details of how.... because his actions were just to strange and obsessive since the beginning of the story. But, I loved this story, and that Birdie got a happy ending.
